I think it's possible he'll see his Fishtown projects through as well. But, yeah, generally Bart leaves much to be desired.

I love this article. I wish I could make it required reading for every Fortune 500 company's C suite executives.

Does anyone know when the renderings for Foster + Partners new University of Pennsylvania tower will be released? I can't find anything more than words on the Google machine.

This thing is in very early stages so I wouldnt expect to find any serious renderings. They just announced the team within last 2 months or so.

Driving around the city this weekend and saw a few interesting items to note:

1. Seems like work is underway at the 8th street garage (8th and Arch). For visitors coming to the city via the 8th St exit on 676, the remodel will be a visually striking welcome (unlike that ugly block they built between EVO and FMC!).

2. Someone mentioned it before and I'll just confirm. The townhomes under construction on Columbus and Catherine, what a travesty. Columbus is lined with a solid concrete wall. It's amazing how NIMBYs and the zoning code have such power to regulate and nix high rise buildings but nobody has an issue with a huge blank wall on our waterfront that the city is desperately trying to revitalize! You have a zillion different planning commissions and NIMBY orgs and NOT A SINGLE ONE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THIS CONCRETE WALL???????

Eyeroll. As noted earlier, steps are going to going to lead up to the houses and cover up the concrete wall, and the houses are elevated to get them out of the flood plain.

Must have missed that, thanks for clarifying. Original post has been revised.

I wouldn't expect anything until 2016. There is a lot of work to be done in regards to what kind of footprint it will have. There are continue talks whether they will move a street or not.

New outlets reporting that Wolf is expected to propose raising the state income tax and lowering the Philly wage tax. That move would help level the playing field a little between the city and the suburbs.

Blumenfeld in Hot Water Over Dealings at The Met

Quote:
The church purchased the property in 1997 for $250,000–saving it from the wrecking ball. It later partnered with Blumenfeld, giving him controlling interest in the property, to help restore the historic building. Only it claims the opposite occurred and the developer wasn’t up front about financial and legal issues, gutted the church and then didn’t restore the property.
This won't help win over any Divine Lorraine doubters.

More here, including bonus Blumenfeld hero shot.

You forgot the part about cutting the corporate tax rate in half.

If you guys like big buildings that's the one that should excite you the most.
