I drove by Pinetree last nite and I'm happy to report that there is only ONE segment left to be added!

They had the same thing few months back. When running Alice seems really efficient.

Maybe this is why - for a future connection to the north?
How many of Port Moody's "requirements" have been met by Evergreen? Two-thirds?

Don't know - certainly not the Murray-Clark Connector ones!

Largest failings IMO are:
11. It is critical that construction of the Murray Clarke Connector start in 2008 and be completed first.
28. A pedestrian overpass over the CPR right-of-way should be provided at each station, if not already in place.

WRO:
9. Respect environmental policies and regulations that are unique to Port Moody such as tree removal, work outside of the bird nesting season, pesticide application, naturescape policy and all other codes, bylaws and regulations.

I'm glad for strict pesticide regulations but it would be nice if railways (federal jurisdiction) followed by those rules too. Instead they use some of the heaviest pesticides and herbicides available.

Wait a second, how is this not met? There are overpasses available to pedestrians one block to the west and two blocks to the east of the station. It would be silly to build another one.

Have a chance today to walk and check out the progress of the construction. I always feel the most interesting segment is between the tunnel portal to Coquitlam Central station, as they are far away from major roads and fewest photos are available...

Coquitlam Central Station

This shows how far the track is going to go, where the guideway on far-right will be long enough to park a train and serve as a spur (pocket) track. The gap between track 2 and 3 seems pretty small to put another platform in there..

Track switches west of the station

Another view west of the station. Although its elevated, the guideway is quite low

Elevated section west of the switches

Tracks going over existing warehouses

Same location, looking west

Elevated tracks along Aberdeen Avenue

Trasition to at-grade. This is probably the slowest guideway segment other than the tunnel

This is suppose to be the entrance to VSF or future site of Falcon Station? The track is in the trench on the right side of image so can't really see anything here

Tracks leading to Inlet Centre Station. The station will have more of the feel of an underground station than at-grade

Inlet Centre Station east entrance

West station house

A peek of the platforms, which can be accessed by both up and down escalators. Seems like Inlet Centre station would have a grand total of 8 escalators

The infamous elevated segment west of the station.

Transition to at-grade along Golden Spike Lane, looking east

Same location looking west, showing Moody Centre Station

Moody Centre Station

Close up view of the station

Moody Centre platform, looking east

Looking west toward the entrance

Station entrance, with up and down escalators to concourse level

Dual escalators from concourse to platform

One of the two access point to WCE platform (the other one is an elevator behind the stairs). Not sure if this will provide enough capacity...

Looking west toward pocket track

Emergency walkway under construction. Seems to have quite a big gap between the tracks

That's a giant emergency walkway for the pocket track at Port Moody section...

I almost imagine it as if they are roughing in extra spots for more parked trains... but at the same time, that would be a very tight squeeze...

Most likely they bought all this extra ROW by accident and just spaced out the third track based on the width of the platform...

Amazing update thanks for the photos! The stations are coming along very nicely. I like the streamline look and architecture, it's very smooth and clean finish.

Great photo update!! They sure are building the stations quickly. I let centre station house is pretty nice, quite unique in the system.

Still surprised with the Coq spur track construction. A lot of switches west to accommodate.

Sure looks like someone was "spaced out" in designing the tracks west of Moody Station. What a waste of real estate that has hot to be worth at least $200 per square foot.

It was suggested before that the spacing could be to allow for flexibility in locating columns for pedestrian overpasses, a deck or the Murray Clark Connector (farther west), or the spacing is dictated by the spacing forced by avoiding the supports of the Murray St. overpass.

Another possibility may be to distribute the weight of the guideway over a wider area. For the Port Moody at-grade guideway, they did not bore pilings into the soft soils. They just mixed concrete into the soil to help stabilize it.

See info sheet here:

http://www.evergreenline.gov.bc.ca/documents/InformationSheets/140407_SoilMixing.pdf

Thanks for the pics nname! Quite spectacular to see these rarely photographed portions of the Evergreen Line!

One thing I noticed is compared to the photos, both official and unofficial that we've seen on the North Road guideways is the Port Moody ones seems so dirty. I guess that is the pitfalls of ground level, since its closer to the soil, mud and so on. I guess that's what happens if you are closer to nature....
