Hello all and greetings. This is my first post here. Great forum and the only real method to get all the scuttlebutt on our city's development scheming.
I toured Regent with an RDA friend two days ago and can attest to its scope and vision. I had doubted it because of almost the entire eastern wall being parking garages (church owned) but there are some surprising little pockets of retail buried on that side. I am especially excite to see what the owners that abut the SW corner of the portion marked "plaza" on the maps will do with their storebacks (from Eva's to Lambs). That spooky little tunnel alley on the west side of the Walker garage is really cool too. Another observation was that from 5-530pm on a Tuesday, I stopped counting the foot traffic at 200 ppl, even during the intense construction. The RDA has foot traffic studies that show that Regent and 100 S. is the most busy pedestrian intersection in the city.
Anyhoo, I'll be hovering and posting every now and then. I'm a real estate guy and I'm very active in the restaurant and bar world and hope to post interesting things when I can.
Huh. Must be the same construction crew working on 111 Main Street as on the State Street Plaza project. Maybe on their lunch break they schlep over to Main Street to pour the same cement that they just dug up from State Street. There must be a connection here...
Correct, steel is rising on 111. The steel that is in place is on the southeast corner of the tower. I was able to take a good look at it today while up in Salt Lake City. It also looks like the concrete on the tower is up to about nine floors.
I was in Salt Lake yesterday and snapped a few pics of 111 and the PAC. There is now steel going up around the core, mostly on the east side of 111, although I just noticed I did not get very good pics of that.

Wait a sec. What about all that talk about no steel in the lobby? It looks like this is just steel for the lobby curtain wall. It seems as if that rendering by the architect showing no steel was wishful thinking. I wonder if this was a big change order that bit the architect, because they did not check for wind loading on the glass enclosure.

Someone mentioned earlier that some of the steel would only be in temporarily until the support from the roof was in and then removed.
Yes, in the technical presentations posted a while back, it shows all the steel that will temporarily support the building. This is the steel around the lobby and other random cross beams/supports here and there.
