Interesting. I just realized I've never heard Saskatchewan pronounced by an Anglo Canadian who wasn't from CBC, so I had no idea.
"Skatchin." Makes sense to contract it like that if you're pronouncing it often (as the locals do).
The key is to draw out the s at the start a bit ... kind of like ssskatch'n. You master that and they'll believe you if you tell 'em you're from Weyburn
It is funny how you notice your home's name when it gets pronounced differently... whenever I'm at a concert and the singer says "Hello winny peg!" it catches my ear.

Maybe, but I'm betting that'll last only as long as I don't say much more than Sssskatch'n.
We teach people here the correct way by telling them to pronounce "Newfoundland" exactly as they would "Understand". Same amount of time and emphasis for each syllable of both.

Well you're the only Quebecois here, and I've noticed that pronouncing it with a 'W' is just about the worst thing one could do. However if I said Keh-beck here I would be corrected to use a 'W.'
