It's significantly skinnier than 432 Park, and looks it.

I don't even think 432 Park looks that skinny from most angles. I don't get when people say it's super skinny. It has bulk.

A tipster has intel on two of the major towers that will transform the area directly south of Central Park. At Robert A.M. Stern-designed 220 Central Park South, asks will start over $10 million and surpass $100 million, which is apparently "steep but certainly exceptional value."

Meanwhile, sales at the slenderest tower in the world, SHoP's 111 West 57th Street, will launch in the second quarter of 2015 for an average of about $7,000 per square foot. Perhaps the record-breaking $150M ask slated for the Sony Building penthouse won't be such an outlier for long.

^ Height isn't everything. But as I've said, this building could be a fraction of its height, and would still be gorgeous.

No idea what the project may be but the design reminds me of shanghai tower though we are getting two towers here. There has been some activity around 80 south street, won't be surprised if something pops out there

I can't find a picture but there were 5 rotating and movable structures on the stage for the Academy Awards this year that looked a lot like that save for the floorplates. They were beautiful!

I think it will make an excellent neighbor to One57, assuming that crown ever gets lit. Makes me wonder about Nordstrom though.

I like the sky chosen in the rendering. Gives it an evil vibe to it. Like if its the labyrinth of some demon (penthouse).

The lighting on this I bet is going to look sick at night.

I think this tower is the reason Nordstrom's final renders are taking so long. Every time a new render of this comes out Extell is sent scrambling to try and formulate an adequate response with their design. At this point all they can do is play the height card to the absolute max if they don't want to get soundly beaten by this beauty in the "NYC icon" battle...

I'm in the process of watching the full 1h15m clip now (the one I posted was the 11 minute version) and I've just heard him say SHoP is working on 4 towers of over 1,000 ft tall, (13:18) though he couldn't go into specifics at this time. He mentions them as:

- 111 w 57th

- the High Line

- Brooklyn

- Lower Manhattan

I think we know what they are.

It's worth a watch...

If the north side of Steinway was as good as its south side, it would have been as perfect a tower as the Empire State Building and Chrysler Building. The massing and materials are world class and this is clearly the best addition to the skyline, easily surpassing Tour Verre (and Tour Verre is AMAZING). This tower is an engineering and ARCHITECTURAL icon. That's rare these days for tall buildings in NY.

Nordstrom will be more like 432 Park. Impressive engineering, terrible architecture.
