West side address, maybe?

For "outsiders", shall we say, they see Cambie, think Canada Line and instantly assume desirable?

Just two possible thoughts.

It does not make a lot of sense.

The entire pricing metric on the Cambie Corridor does not make a heck of a lot of sense to me. $670 for wood frame, $800 for concrete. I'm sorry but I can think of at least 2 or 3 other areas I'd far rather live and not have my building average out at those rates.
These are downtown prices. For that type of price, I would rather live downtown.

Amazing what people will pay for the privilege of living in a crap neighbourhood next to a Superstore and a waste transfer station.

Basically, the City and developer should have disclosed the details of the land swap at public hearing rather than having this court case force them to share this important info.

The remedy seemed to be on the extreme side. I wonder what the City's plans are regarding an appeal.

I didn't want to say it, but it does have a "take my football home with me" feel to it.

^ I'm happy to see Proscenium Architecture keep busy. For those who don't know, they're Western Canada's leading architectural firm for performing arts spaces, which is a specialized craft that must be supported through more conventional commercial and mixed-use projects. Proscenium did the Stanley Theatre restoration, the York Theatre restoration, the Van East Cultural Centre renovation and expansion, the interior fit-out and design of the Arts Club Theatre-Bard on the Beach theatre space in SEFC, the Arts Club Theatre Company Granville Island Stage Reno's, Vancouver TheatreSports League renovation on Granville Island, and if I recall, they may have also done the Queen Elizabeth Theatre renovation.

^That's a lot of retail space for that area. Wonder who the tenant(s) will be? Grocery?

Yeah it's weird to me that it took so long for people to recognize how good the area is. I recall having a conversation with my boss several years ago when he was struggling to find good office space that he should look in the Mount Pleasant Industrial Area but he brushed aside the idea because it wasn't downtown.

Increasingly it looks like the favoured location for tech companies that outgrow Railtown (like HootSuite) is Mount Pleasant. Nearby breweries helps.

I don't know if this has been posted in the past, but a project called SOTA ("State Of The Art") is being planned in South Granville along the 14th Street. What caught my eye about this is that the building looks like shit, but prices are said to begin from $2.5 million. How is that possible??

To paraphrase an old saying, There's a Chinese millionaire looking for a place to stash cash born every minute.
