It looks like the Cajun Steamer in Twickenham near the new Publix has opened its doors to business.

Polaris ATV plant campus layout..construction to start in May.Thats a big test track. The Target in the image is the Target Distribution center that supplies their stores in this region.
The Huntsville plant will produce three of the Polaris' most popular off-road vehicle models - the Ace, Ranger and RZR.

This is a good place to eat
Open in the Publix-anchored Piedmont Point Shopping Center on Whitesburg Drive, Walton's Southern Table is the latest venture from David Martin, the restaurateur responsible for ventures including Rosie's Mexican Cantina, Blue Plate Cafe and Ted's Bar-B-Q.

I'm glad it's something new. I just wish he moved the Little Rosie's in there for more space and parking space.

Downtown rising..but first tear down

The downtown 270-room former Holiday Inn is currently being demolished to make way for CityCentre at Big Spring, a $70 million mixed-use project that will feature a new-to-market boutique hotel, parking deck, 30,000 square feet of restaurants and retail stores, 53,000 square feet of office loft space and 200 multi-family apartments. The structure is expected to break ground in April.

The North/South would be awesome if there was a Riverwalk type experience at Ditto Landing with a few bars and restaurants. A little train to and from Ditto to the bars, clubs and restaurants downtown with a stop here an there to drop off people that live along the route.

I had been wondering about this demolition.....

The recent demolition of an old Memorial Parkway shopping center has had drivers -- and Huntsville leaders -- wondering what's next for the prime tract near downtown.

AL.com managed to get some answers from the owner of the property.

Guy Hornbuckle said he intends to put the land up for sale this week and expects heavy interest from retailers and restaurants. He declined to reveal the asking price.

Located on the west side of the Parkway between Governors Drive and Bob Wallace Avenue, the 2.13-acre tract possesses two traits that commercial developers covet: tons of passing traffic; and good visibility from the road.

"The property has incredible visibility because it's not hidden by any of the overpasses," Hornbuckle said Tuesday. "And the concentration of traffic from both the neighborhood and the (Parkway) is just remarkable."

The Hornbuckle tract has a long commercial history, starting with the opening of an A&P grocery store around 1957. It was one of the first businesses built along then-new Memorial Parkway.

Hornbuckle's father, Huntsville radio broadcasting pioneer Arnold Hornbuckle, bought the A&P building in 1974 and had it divided into several retail storefronts. His Hornbuckle's Record Shop anchored the small, unnamed strip center until the late 1990s.

Because it sat in the floodway of nearby Huntsville Spring Branch, the property could not easily be redeveloped. That changed in October, when an updated FEMA flood map for Madison County moved the Hornbuckle tract to the less-regulated flood fringe.

Heard the Rock Church has bought property for a parking lot.

This was mentioned probably a year ago ..Galaxy 15
The ground work is complete, on the 7-acre site for Cinema Management Group, Inc., of Memphis, so now construction of the 39,000-square feet theater can begin.
The theater, tentatively called Galaxy 15, has been in the works for more than a year, and initially was intended to open this coming May, but delays in the development postponed construction. The target date for opening is November

I'm really hoping this will be a good quality theater.

On the north end of the county
Madison County officials announced that a Burger King and Zaxby's will be built in front of the new Walmart Supercenter on Highway 231/431. An exact start date for the restaurants has yet to be determined, but officials confirmed would open later this year.
Madison County Commission Chairman Dale Strong. "These stores in Hazel Green will be the first locations for both Zaxby's and Burger King in unincorporated Madison County

If they don't have online tickets with reserved seating, I'll still be going to Monaco.

DreamVision reveals plan for Shoals theme park
Posted: Feb 11, 2015 10:59 AM CST Updated: Feb 11, 2015 4:55 PM CST

MUSCLE SHOALS, AL (WAFF) - The DreamVision Company unveiled its plans for a $3.5 billion music-inspired theme park and resort destination, "DreamVision Soundscape," slated for completion in 2019 in Muscle Shoals.

DreamVision CEO Rick Silanskas said the park, along with a second theme park in Fort Worth, Texas, is being developed in a partnership with Muscle Shoals-based CEO, Provident Global Capital, LLC Bryan Robinson.

“We are very excited about our partnership with DreamVision and their team of proven industry leaders. Even more compelling is how DreamVision aligns with Provident Global Capital's core values and our mission of investing in companies that have a positive impact on society,” said Robinson.

“Because of its role in music history, Muscle Shoals is a fitting site for the world's most ambitious, musically themed destination park and resort,” Silanskas said at Wednesday's event.

The basis for the idea of the park is to celebrate the musical heritage of Muscle Shoals. The 1,400-acre park will pay tribute to the history of the Shoals area and spotlight several music genres.

Up to 20,000 jobs are anticipated to come from the arrival of the theme park, company leaders said.

The park will feature musically themed “neighborhoods” showcasing country, pop, gospel, jazz with all-age rides, such as "Soundscape Singing River," “Breaches,” an extreme roller coaster,“Slide Guitar,” a drop ride, and “Oceanica,”a domed water playground along with various performance venues. The destination will also include golf courses, hotels, retail and more, according to DreamVision.

DreamVision also announced a partnership with The Thomas Kinkade Company, a music division called DreamVision music and several other groups.

Robinson said funding is in place, and investors will be revealed at the groundbreaking.

Local leaders said if the project comes to fruition, it would be the biggest thing to ever hit the Shoals area, and they believe it would impact the rest of North Alabama.

However, the company's claim that they would move the Alabama Music Hall of Fame to the theme park raised eyebrows - and a word of caution from the Hall's Chairman of the Board of Directors.

"The Alabama Music Hall of Fame has not been engaged in moving our facility," said Bill Newton in a written statement, adding, "We are excited to discuss this opportunity with company leaders at DreamVision."

This is great news for all of us in North Alabama.

That was my thought when I first read the article, interesting development none the less. I have read another article stating how "bizarre" the announcement was. Don't know if I have ever read about such a strange and very surprising development on this magnitude.

I will be surprised if makes past the drawing board. Maybe the one in Fort Worth but just do not see that in the Shoals area.
