You don't buy at Telus for the view, it's surrounded by building all around, or will be. You buy there because it's smack dab in the centre of it all and will be very conveniently located.

Hi McMinsen,

Any chance you can take a shot of the condo tower from your condo during the day? A co-worker bought a condo at the transition floor between the "cubes" facing east and would like to see his suite.

Thanks!

Sure, I'll try to get a zoomed in pic of it tomorrow in the day. In the meantime I had these from yesterday and from Jan. 30th. That transition floor would be interesting because I think it would have a bit of an extra overhang above it from the offset section. Maybe a bit of extra shade on the sunniest days of summer.

Thank you officedweller for this valuable information. There are people who don't mind looking at the wall. At least 6 floors facing West are already looking into the wall. But even though I can afford to live there, I wouldn't like to spend any time looking at the wall or overlooking protruded elevator on top of the building in front. I do love the project - it's a wonderful addition to downtown Vancouver, though.

It's a half block away and slightly to the north of Robson, so the condo would still have views down Robson Street.

Thanks for clarifying. Now I know exactly where that spot is, I was right in front of that parkade yesterday.

That's a good way to look at it. But the unit I wanted to purchase on the 19th floor already looks at the protruded elevator in front of the Telus building on Seymour. Plus there is likelihood that the view will be completely obstructed if they raise 2 floors vertical for their data centre. While some people won't mind, I really don't see any value looking into an ugly elevator or concrete wall in front of me. There are other buildings around Telus Garden building that can be purchased without concrete wall for the view, but the buildings are not new. Again, every buyer is different.

Thanks for the photo. It gives me a better idea what the view would be like from the 19th floor facing West. I edited your photo. It's obvious that the 19th floor overlooks the building in front of it, but again - there is a chance Telus may rise 2 floors vertical and block it...

See below, I added red dots showing floors...

Great, thanks.
The co-worker confirmed that the overhang will not be backlit (as was shown in the open house boards)

Between the morning fog, intermittent downpours and general gloom today I wasn't able to get any better shots of the transition floor on the condo tower. But, I was able to get these shots of the solar panels that are now appearing on the roof of the office tower.

Great shots, thanks.

Does anybody know the details of the solar generating capacity?

The residential tower is shaping up to look great except for the prevailing color. I REALLY hope they will add some color to the walls, as it currently looks so damn bland. I am still mourning over the original colors being ditched.

Yes, thanks mcminsen - great updates.
I'll try to get some photos of the solar panels from above one day this week.

The original design was for 64 kW nominal capacitiy.

But I am not sure what the final over-priced installation will actually be.

***edit*** oops, I didn't see the previous post before I posted this. Anyway, another reminder.

Just a reminder about the open house today seeking public input re: the proposed Georgia St. sign. The sign is already installed and has been up and running in test mode (see Prometheus' post with pic below). A Sign By-law amendment has been applied for in order to permit it. I will be there asking questions.

As Klazu reported back on page #82, the sign on the west facade of the office tower has already been seen turned on and was apparently being tested. It seems strange to build it and THEN apply to amend the by-law so that what you've already built can be permitted and THEN seek public input on the "proposed sign". I think it would have been more honest for the notice to simply say "We would like your input on the operation of the sign." As in, brightness, media content and hours of operation.

I do like the idea of a sign. I just wish it was larger as the earlier renderings seemed to suggest. I guess I will have to like it the way it is.

I like them. Especially if and when they do different colours with them. officedweller posted a couple of pics on Monday and I got a few yesterday.

You would think this being a Telus branded complex, there would be green and pink LEDs all around it. So I hope the color will be changing accordinly, eventhough just the blue looks amazing!

So much added to the surrounding urban fabric with this project!
