Me too. I know what you mean about the podium, and unfortunately in that area it will make a big impact. I don't know how the city allowed THAT to happen, right on the doorstep of Central Memorial Park.

ALLOWED being a good point. would be ok if it was hiding or poking out over other towers... can't wait till Park Point now!!

Must admit I have somewhat begun to appreciate the blue cladding but really am unable to make sense of the design decisions on the podium. Building sort of looks like a children hospital mounted on a 1970's Jail. Way she goes I suppose.

BTW possession is now estimated to be August but I am thinking more November / December.

I agree since there have been so many stop and starts to this project. At least it should have a more finished look to it now with the glass.

Looks like they are installing glass on the 9th floor! I am impressed how quick the glass is going in. I do like the podium color as well. The colors actually flow with the neighboring buildings. Looking forward to seeing the completed product.

So the possession date now is around Dec?

No, I think they are on schedule to complete this summer.

I think they'll do it too. I was waiting to see how the glass progressed, but it looks to be going up so fast, and they've also done quite a bit of interior work, so this summer looks reasonable.

This week the glazing mounts were finished up to the 12th. However, not surprisingly no glass work has been done for over a week now, even with glass delivered to the 9th and 10th. It is possible no more may get done for another 2-3 weeks until a few more shipments of glass arrive. If that's the case they should again be able to bang off another quick 4-5 floors in a couple of weeks or so and remain on target to complete the glass install by end of March.

As far as complete and delivery time goes, I am skeptical at best they will deliver as promised by May-June. My (usually murky) crystal ball tells me the first move ins will not be before September 1st.

The way the first 6 or 7 floors if glass went up it's hard to know what to expect. I feel they can get it done by mid March, but yeah move ins by June would be tight. The end of July seems possible.

A closer look at the glass. Also my picture shows that they have 5 floors clad, but they have the sixth started on the East side. No drywall up in any units that I could see.

So in your picture the top floor with windows installed would be considered the 7th floor?
My understanding is that the first two levels (two-storey townhouses) are considered one floor.

Why is it that no windows have been installed on the second floor?

I think the 2-3rd floor are not a typical floors and am sure they will start the 2 & 3rd floor as soon as the typical floors are complete (4-12).

Another truck full of glass unloaded this morning on the 10th. Glass for the 9th started again this week on Monday, but took until late afternoon Friday to complete as only 1 crew installed this week as opposed to the 2 crews they used to install the first 5 floors.

They also started to install glass on the top floor today. I am guessing it was to protect the electrical cables attached to the roof of the 18th. In the past number of weeks this area was covered with plywood and recently that was removed.

Also started to install some glazing mounts today on the West side of the 14th.

Looks like Union Square 2 may be starting up soon.

I thought they were going to install glass up to the column to the right of the crane where it is taped to, and actually did have it installed up to the column to the left of the crane. I could not believe my eyes when a short time after, I saw them start to remove all the glass up to where it is now???

I hope I am wrong, but I personally do not think there is a snowballs chance in hell they will finish by end of June - or end of August for that matter. More than 3 years to finish an 18 storey building with the parkade already finished!!

They have had glass installed for over a month now, and as far as I can tell they still do not have any drywall installed as Design-Mind previously noted.

I went by BMIC today and see that they have already started installing glass. I would not be surprised at all if residents started moving into there before the Park residents start moving in.
