cv is allways been weird and never clear about things even back in their early days and when ever someone would question them they got their backs up never understood why?

maybe city hall can get them to actualy be better civic agency or determan that they have lived out what they were set to do and close it down??

CentreVenture needs to be put to sleep as have other quasi development boards in other locales.

It's too bad all this is going on. The only thing it's doing is delaying any development on the two empty lots for who knows how many years....1...3...5...never.

Don't get me wrong, I support the accountability, just seems Winnipeg is cursed sometimes.

I think it's prudent. Vossen let it slip that the development requires a ton of government subsidy - both on the front end and the back end. As such, the public should be able to perform some form of due diligence on their investment. This idea that we should just let some unbeholden, quasi-government agency continue making clandestine decisions that only benefit their friends at everybody's expense and we just have to 'trust them' has gotten us exactly where we are. It doesn't work.

If this is all so beneficial to Winnipeggers and Manitobans, let's see it. If that's actually true, it'll stand up to scrutiny. Except that we all know it won't and that's why nobody is allowed to see it.

No it is not. ALL of these types of developments become failures because they are done by governments. Same as the stupid thing on the bridge.

Governments could lose money in a diamond mine. If the private sector doesn't develop it that means it is a lost cause and should sit empty.

I'm taking a chance here and although this is old news, I was personally affected by it and have heard some rumors and was wondering if anyone knows anything about the current status of Gerald Matheson from the now insolvent Bentley Homes.

^ Interesting. So that's a hotel on the left, an office tower (MLLC)... what's the third building, an office tower or a condo? And is that a multistorey podium that it's being built on top of? Interesting layout. The cathedral sure will sit awkwardly in the middle of all of this.

If part of this is meant to draw thousands of people to games on TV or whatever, I dont think I'd want to live there with X amount of party goers outside my condo.

Twitter buzz is Chipman is pissed and actually seems to be speaking out against Bowman. Guess that relationship is souring. Chipman seems like he's saying they might pull their offer if they are going to be mistreated.

Either Chipman or Bowman is lying. It could get ugly. Chipman said he invited Bowman and Chief (Kevin) to his office after a Jets game in November where they all watched the video. Chipman seemed pretty mad at the whole situation. The development is reportedly worth around $400 million.

Even though the SoPo name was a little goofy, I'm not sure I like the True North Square name given that it's such an obvious ripoff of Maple Leaf Square. It's as cringe-inducing as Toronto's Dundas Square.

I wouldnt worry too much about Chipman's anger. The most furious I ever saw him was when he gave an impromptu presser about the grassroots movement to have a "Helmet Pardy" against the Blackhawks. He seems like a pretty affable guy most of the time...but gets angry!
