well i wouldnt expect a publix to have actual windows into the store on it's side like that anyway.. but the fake windows look silly there too.. put up some cool mural or artwork something! the publix fake window displays show pictures of vegetables and friuits on the walls haha

But does that Skyhouse deck have any stores that could actually use those window displays? If not, how did that ever get through the DRC?

Those displays are a small fraction of the Spring Street side. The rest is an entrance and storefronts. I'm sure it satisfies the active use requirements.

My question to pose is when will the rest of Atlantic Station (south side of 17th / empty hole between Twelve and 271 17th) be filled in? That's what I want to know.

Ha! I doubt they're doing soil testing for a food truck, but if there aren't any permits on file as of yet, maybe they really are just prepping it for the market (that seems oddly specific to me, but maybe it's a common practice). It's shown as highrise residential on the original Atlantic Station site plan, so I think it's probably already zoned for that. The area is within the Midtown Alliance but it might not fall under the DRC. Based on those assumptions, we might not hear anything until the first permits are applied for.

It will probably be at least a decade before all those vacant lots are built out, but I have a feeling this will be the year the first major project is announced... maybe 17th and State will be it. I think their office space is still hurting a bit (albeit helped by Worldpay), but the residential and retail spaces around there have very low vacancy rates, so that market seems ready to bear another tower or two.

I think it's worth noting that almost all of the lots across the street from this are owned by the same LLC (likely owned by the Loudermilk Companies as that parking lot is advertised on their website) - so it's possible there could be something going up right across the street from this in the near future.

811 from my understanding covers only the large parking lot at Peachtree and 6th. It does not include any of the restaurant houses facing Juniper.

I was told they were working through some negotiations with the adjacent condo building at 805 Peachtree on their parking deck access/easement to accommodate the retail tenant/building footprint.

But of course with these kinds of deals there are countless other items that can affect permitting/zoning.
