Really surprising though that only 1% of all of this activity is in Arapaho Square? That's kind of pathetic, considering all of the surface parking lots there just begging for improvements.

I don't have a subscription to the DBJ anymore, but this looks to be an interesting development (pun intended?) in the whole Gates Redevelopment Plan. Good to see this potentially moving forward again, seems like forever ago when Cherokee attempted redevelopment.

Frontier Renewal plans transit-oriented development at Gates site

Denver Business Journal

The 41 acres that were formerly home to the Gates Rubber plant has been called Denver's next hot redevelopment site after Denver Union Station by many in commercial real estate circles, and Denver company Frontier Renewal is working now to realize that goal.

Frontier bought the site in September with plans to finish the necessary cleanup on the land, which was at one time polluted with industrial waste and solvents, and get it ready for development before selling pieces of it to vertical developers who will turn it into a transit-oriented development surrounding the Interstate 25 and Broadway light-rail station, ...

I mean, Gates has to redevelop at some point, but it's been "Denver's next hot redevelopment site" since the 1990s, at least.

I have high hopes for it. That area has everything it needs to be Denver's best TOD. But I'll believe it when I see it.

It would be nice if with the next round of bond approval funding they'd do over/under's at Monaco & Alameda and Monaco & Leetsdale. All three of those streets are big commuter routes as opposed to Colorado Blvd. (for example) which is a hopeless business Street.
That would probably solve a lot of the problem

Why could I not help but think of RyanD?
He could have been famous - or at least infamous. He could have been featured in WaPo.

WASHINGTON — A government employee told the Secret Service that he lost control of a small drone before it crashed on the grounds of the White House shortly after 3 a.m. on Monday, officials said. Investigators believe the man was flying the drone — a 2-foot "quad copter," weighing only a few pounds — for recreational purposes

I thought the same thing when I read this article earlier today. That's got to freak out the secret service when they envision the potential havoc that could easily occur if someone wanted to strap some TNT to a toy helicopter and dive bomb it into the grounds of the White House. How would you defend against something like that?

I'm glad you all are thinking about me and the drone. I feel... Special... These kind of things worry me. The FAA will keep winning if things like this happen...

It's just like the advent of the airplane, but on a far, far, far more pervasive scale. First someone flies it and the almost certain next step is that someone arms the damn thing. You've already got man-portable UAV's that have a .5 lb warhead strapped on it that will ruin your day in the Army and Marines inventory; it's only a matter of time before some yahoo replicates this.

We, as Americans, have a God given right to bear drones! I need to be able to protect my family and my home from other people bearing drones.

Yeah, Ryan and I (yahoos, for sure) already worked this out. There might have been a lot of beer involved.

YEAH! THANKS BUNT!!! But it really has been discussed... 2.2lbs gets you pretty far...

Anyways... From Gizmodo..

Some guys essentially weaponized a drone by strapping Roman Candles onto the flying machine and making it fly around and shoot fireworks at people (themselves). The video made by PIEROGRAM is totally crude but is also a preview of how the world will end. Death by laser shooting drones and human stupidity.

The end is nigh. Until then, here's the construction cam for all Skyhouses EVERYWHERE... except Denver (for now).
