Surface Parking Lot

155 Garry Street for sale by Manitoba Housing. It doesn't look like there are any requirements to build on the site.

Any estimates of the square footage MLLC would occupy in the new building?

I think the RFP was for between 80,000 and 100,000 sq ft. Not a massive amount of space, but good for downtown. If I recall they also required 20,000ish sq ft floor plates as well. So 4 or 5 floors.

What's going on with the Pumphouse? Was there ever an official "we're way to pie in the sky to actually make this work." admission from anyone? Or has it just kind of died a slow death.

There was lots of evidence to suggest McGowan was trying to have it torn down and the lot directed to Qualico. Speculation, but well founded.

Wasn't some type of highrise development suggested for the old Gio's site when it was torn down last year? That would be in the general vicinity of #5, no?

Whatever happened to that? I was actually thinking about it the other day as I drove past the still boarded-up former Gio's.

There's never even been anything filed in terms of getting the appropriate usage, so I doubt there' much in the works. Given that those apartments in the old Sheraton on York have a difficult enough time keeping occupied and Heritage Landing on the way, I can't imagine anybody developing in that spot. Globe walked away from the Winter Club land after getting an very favourable density due to costs and potential rents. If Globe can't swing it and Rube Spletzer happy to lose money over on Assiniboine, she'll be vacant for a while...

Good question. Reading the Free Press article again, I noticed this is a Lount Corp. property. They seem to know what they're doing, so maybe something could come of it?

I thought there was to be some electrical power infrastructure going up on the Gio's site.
