I will. I also wrote the Center City District and Center City Residents' Association. And will call. Per the article, I believe they have direct authority to appeal the permit to L&I and force a hearing. Everyone here should also write and call them.

Further, I just spoke to a buddy at Saltz Mongeluzzi, a top law firm that is handling numerous construction defect wrongful death suits in connection with building collapse. They will be opposing this on behalf of the victims they represent. I don't see this succeeding. Let's all do our part to stop Basciano as well.

Some quick Old City updates:

CVS at 3rd and Market:
Looks like they are putting some sort of sealant on the exterior plywood, and taping between the plywood.

Here is a pic of the rear of the project.

The American Revolution Museum: That's a pretty big hole there for a building of this size. Any comments on why?

There is a project very similar to the 2nd and arch townhouse project going up on race street between 2nd and 3rd. More old City mansions.

These look like they're going to be pretty cool, but I can't help but wonder if they aren't thinking ahead when it comes to land use. At the rate Center City seems to be growing, these Old City row houses could be the equivalent of a single-family row houses in the East Village ten years from now. Perhaps a great investment for someone right now, but who will be able to afford the resale value in a decade?

I went to the lighting ceremony last night. It looked great but my phone camera couldn't get a good picture of it. Some folks from Brickstone told me that the next step is the other corner, planned to be completed by the end of February. Also, the Lits Building's regular facade maintenance is coming up later this year but this time they will install white lights at every window in order to light it up at night.

yeah any development in this area is a positive. Still too many vacant lots on or near Delaware ave. The area around Delaware and Spring Garden is pretty depressing overall. This and the new apts near the bridge should help.

Oooo that's great. I love the TLC this building's getting. I really like the lighting. I can't wait to see it after they put lights in the windows. I feel like that's one thing we're pretty bad at here, putting good lighting on our pretty buildings (god I'd love to see City Hall get better lighting).

Cool! That stretch of Spring Garden should look even better if the Spring Garden greenway ever gets done.

Agreed! Better lighting--and especially uplighting--of Center City's more architecturally interesting buildings would go a long way to enhance the atmosphere of Center City at night (see, e.g., DC and Paris).

That looks like a huge project for the area. There's a lot of new housing going up around here and this should anchor further redevelopment.

This is a very nice low rise project with good quality exterior materials. And, the location is good for further gentrification of point breeze/grays ferry. Nice fine, 1487!
