Interesting... think that will make the store look more interesting and intimate, and not have the typical Walmart/Costco flat expanse of space and layout. Wonder what they would do with the crawl space created, and handicap accessibility issues.

This is an outrage to have destroyed such a grand/beautiful example of 19th century architecture. And I'm not kidding here when I say that the perpetrators should be prosecuted even in death!

Sears basically became a pass-through from Robson Street to Pacific Centre, I'm sure Nordstrom wishes to avoid that.

For the new Nordstrom, there would be minimum pass-throughs as customers accessing PC would go underground quite directly via the escalator from the Robson/Granville entrance.

Yeah, I don't think it will have the "grandeur" of a typical department store main floor. Looking in at the south end of the store, the ceiling appears to have been noticeably lowered compared to the former Eatons/Sears ceiling - or at least is much lower than the slab. There is also the cove ceiling framing that has been installed near that mezzanine and walls built near the Robson & Howe entrance.
Hopefully it won't be a rats warren that's hard to navigate.

Eaton's used to have the food hall on the mall level before menswear moved down there (from the ground floor). From the mall, it'll be interesting to see how much presence Nordstrom will have. I think it may be limited to just a couple of escalators and signs to the elevators (i.e. another loss not opening up the ceiling of the mall).

I think there will be an elevator from the entrance mezzanine to the main floor, or maybe not:

They've obviously changed the plans for the rotunda entrance:

Are they going to level out the TD Tower Plaza entrance? I hope so.
Lastntime I saw it, it still had that large, space-filling, bevelled V sort of, entrance.
Be better flush with the building, IMO.

Yeah - really misleading description - but I know what you meant...

Not yet - no signs that the triangular shaped atrium/vestibule entrance to Pacific Centre / TD Tower will be removed and made flush with the tower.
Not yet, anyways.
I recall someone posting a rending where it was shown replaced with a rectangular boxy atrium/vestibule, instead of the triangular one.

The building is looking close to completion - I wonder when the signage will be erected?

Nordstrom isn't opening 124 stores within 18 months. Nor are they making due with re-purposed shitty old Zellers spaces. The half dozen or so locations they do open won't require a massive, sophisticated distribution network either. They'll be just fine.

Today. I wonder what James Cheng is thinking of his creation. "Now, that's a fine looking building! I should be very proud of my creation."

I just don't understand how Nordstrom and Microsoft can possibly put their names on a P.O.S. like this.

Absolutely disgraceful.

It's an architectural materpiece compared to what it was before (though I find this renewed version cluttered and busy)
Anyway, perhaps Nordstrom, and esp Micrsoft will add a sort of brand equity to it.
