...and considering all the photographs and videos I have taken around stations and the SkyTrain up until now, they have been VERY nice to me. I have no reason to rock the boat and jepoardize future works.

Keep the photos big-picture, and don't focus heavily on entrances/exits and other little details. That should ward off most concerns about suspicious photo-taking.

Is it just me, or are the Main Street Station windscreen panels really that off alignment? =\

Bring a friend, have them stand just out of frame but roughly in the same area as what you want to photograph, and pose like a tourist.

I consider myself a respectful person, but if a Translink attendant or any person with an air of authority were to tell me attempt to persuade my actions by threatening the confiscation of my property, I certainly would not stand for it.

The "See something, Say something" and "Report the suspicious, not the strange" are disgusting campaigns in security theatre.

Keep taking them photos and ignore the unionized government drones...I am guessing that they are concerned that you are using the tripod...'Cuz that is what the bad guys would do...right...or use Google street view...hmmmm...

What it means is if you want to take photos inside a station, put on a really loud Jester hat, a bright sparkly scarf, and giant clown shoes and nobody should bother you because you're "strange" not "suspicious."

Metrotown Station was a zoo today. People going to metrotown had to go downstairs and cross the street, and people leaving metrotown were allowed to use the skybridge to the station

Primary Proposed Improvements

• North Entry Enclosure:
  • Demolish existing roof and install new roof structure;
  • Install new removable acoustical ceiling and extend acoustical ceiling over faregates;
  • Replace existing metal mesh with laminated glass;
  • Replace existing metal panels
• Platform:
  • Paint hoop trusses, longitudinal trusses and all other exposed steel;
  • Replace platform ceiling with new acoustical ceiling and paint existing metal mesh edge panel screens;
  • Install new platform lighting, PA speakers, CCTV cameras;
  • Replace vertical mesh panels with laminated glass;
  • Clean, repair and seal floors.
• Concourse:
  • Provide new removable acoustical ceiling;
  • Provide new lighting, PA speakers and CCTV cameras;
  • Replace existing metal wall panels;
  • Clean, repair and seal floor.
• South Elevator:
  • Demolish existing ceiling;
  • Remove the existing elevator cab, rails and cut off piston;
  • Modify pit to suit new elevator (installed by others);
  • Provide new openings in the existing elevator shaft, extend the concrete parapets and install a new roof;
  • TransLink has a separate contract with an elevator contractor for the supply and installation of a new elevator together with all associated equipment;
  • The Contractor shall work with and coordinate its Work with that of the elevator contractor.
• Stair Upgrades:
  • Install high visibility stair nosings to north, south, east and west stairs;
  • Clean and paint north and south platform emergency egress stairs.
• Escalators:
  • Undertake renovation Work in the escalator pits to suit the new escalators;
  • TransLink has a separate contract with an escalator contractor for the supply and installation of four (4) new escalators;
  • The Contractor shall work with and coordinate its Work with that of the escalator contractor.
• Guard Rail, Handrails and Glazing Upgrades:
  • Install new glazed panels and stainless steel handrails;
  • Install new glazing to replace existing mesh panels.
• Lighting & Security Equipment:
  • Install new lighting and CCTV cameras throughout the station and
    platform.
• Mechanical Systems:
  • Upgrade existing HVAC systems in ancillary areas to accommodate electrical upgrades;
  • Provide ventilation for south elevator;
  • Adjust/ relocate plumbing/hydrants/drains to accommodate upgraded elevator and escalators;
  • Install new roof drainage at north stair enclosure.
• Electrical Systems:
  • Replace all public area PA speakers;
  • Temporarily relocate EECP/T’s for construction;
  • Supply and install cables and conduits from the concourse level distribution panel to all devices. This shall include but not be limited to: lighting, telephones (new and existing to be relocated), speakers, cameras and fire alarm.
• Wayfinding:
  • Remove and replace existing signage during ceiling installation;
  • Install new signs and modify existing sign.

Weird add campaign and strange that they are concerned on someone taking a photo of a CCTV camera that is in public visible.

Given over 50% of the population walks around with smart phones snapping photos and selfies I don't understand the concern.

I am guessing that this campaign and in general government agencies notion of security is based on Die Hard movies. You know - the super smart and super organized terrorists take over building/airport/plane by methodically taking out cameras & guards (as previously identified by their super detailed 3D blueprints and satellite photos that they "downloaded" of the "mainframe") followed by patching their laptop into security system and magically de-crypting everything in 5 seconds. Compare that to a real situation in which a crazed lunatic with half baked "ideology" enters a building and starts randomly shooting or stabbing people (while, imagine that, completely ignoring the security cameras)...Of course, there is no system that would protect you from the later, so it's just easier to focus on Die Hard threat and go through the motions pretending that you are doing something. Plus it's so much more 🞵🞵🞵🞵.

Up only in the east station house. But there are elevators in both station houses.

Yes, guard against the risk with a very low probability at the expense of improving basic security.
