Kroger has opted for their typical suburban model at Lindbergh and Glenwood, but they've done some fairly urban stores elsewhere.

Looks like Pollack Shores' apartments on 14th St in Home Park are about to get started. A fence has been put up around the property.

Nice. The BeltLine neighborhoods have taken attention from that area, but it's changing almost as rapidly. A thousand residences have already been added in the last year, and this will mean a thousand more are in progress. Heights at West Midtown has a second floor being framed out already. Speaking of Publix getting crowded...

I feel like this is the year Atlantic Station will announce something big for one of their many holes along 17th. It used to be a bit of a ghost town outside the mall, but between the new residents, the Millennium Gate museum (which is finally being marketed), and the Buddhist center crowds, the pedestrian activity has gotten as high as anywhere else in Midtown.

I just noticed a new sign at One Museum Place that said construction is to begin this month. I take it for granted it's true given how public it is.

Across the street, the Norfolk Southern lobby renovation is wrapping up. It has a big video screen and looks good from the street. It's a nice improvement.

Oops, my mind slipped a gear. I was referring to the big Kroger coming to the Lindbergh area, and the other new development on Glenwood Road.

However, Glenwood is actually going to be a Super Walmart, I think, not a Kroger.

Sorry about that!

These are two MAJOR announcements. Now there will be 5000+ people who can fill all of these highrise apartment buildings going up in the city.
That implies those apartments weren't already being filled as it is. Aren't all the finished apartment buildings essentially leased up as soon as they open?

I guess it was not apparent that I was referring to the plethora of proposals for the Midtown area and not the product currently available. I'm sure I am not the only one wondering who would fill the likes of 98 14th Street, the Amli proposal or the proposal on the southwest corner of 14th Street.

Nothing in history makes me think they're not a possibility.
Of course I am only speculating but when comparing the 1 mile/3 mile/5 mile radius demographics for Atlantic Station and Underground Atlanta you find that they are slightly different. Plus, how many apartments, condo and office workers were added to Atlantic Station at one time? Now I will grant that this developer could somehow coerce the likes of a Publix to locate at Underground. If the proposed residential towers fill up then a smaller Publix...a la' Plaza Midtown...could work.

Something someday may be built at 98 14th, but won't be anything remotely similar to the 2013 rendering that's been around.

Monroe and Armour...I believe that is considered Midtown. Midtown Bowl is just around the corner.

That would be very unfortunate.

Ashkenazy Acquisition Corp. has both extremely deep pockets and a massive preexisting portfolio. They bought the land and stated they want to have the site built out by 2020. Add to that the fact that they are looking at it as a long term investment and id put it at a strong maybe. The proposal happened mid last year then they bought the land.

The Atlanta real estate market is different than NY or Miami.

Mixed messages concerning these towers in ABC's latest article. Personally, I would rather see all the other proposed towers move forward before this development.

I'd just be happy to see a tower, any tower of consequence to go forward.

I can't believe I am typing this but I agree with this comment. As much as I love the soaring heights of the 98 14th Street development, I would much rather the Amli tower at 15th and Spring, the tower at 14th and Spring, 1125 Peachtree, 811 Peachtree and Post Millennium go forward.

Atlanta has quite a collection of beautiful and tall skyscrapers...including a super tall. Now the city has to work on the density of one of the hottest communities in which to live, work and play in the Southeast. More tall buildings will follow after the density and popularity of Midtown increases.

I can side with both sentiments however probably more so in the yearning for something really tall. I'm not getting any younger (52). Atlanta has held the distinction of "tallest in the US outside of NY or Chicago" for many years, but several cities have a new "tallest" under construction which will soon cause us to lose that distinction. More infill: Yes! Something really tall: Yes!
