The music store beside Mixed Media has moved, and the interior is currently being gutted. Any intel? There is also a vapour lounge opening up in this building.

They covered up the brick with tacky stone tiles. It looks 10x worse now.

At least their customers will wander around looking for snacks rather than breaking things.

I think a weed lounge is just fine. There are plenty of options for the alcohol user after all.

Agreed. It's harmless. I'd even say mainstream now. Time for the laws to catch up.

I have no issues with marijuana at all. However, the city should have bylaws for these kinds of establishment much like requesting a liquor license from the City.

The problem with bylaws is sometimes everything the city touches turns to shit. Businesses give up or move due to the difficulty. A vapour lounge is not otherwise a very capital intensive business but if they are forced to go through zoning changes, building permits and licenses, the startup costs could be double.

Are you sure that this is going to be a marijuana vapour lounge? often establishments who sell e-cigarettes (or vapes) also use the title vapour lounge. Either way I'd prefer the pot cafe.

I personally don't hate what they did with the front of the building. The storefront on the left was boarded up before. A good example of a building owner taking advantage of city grants to make small but noticeable improvements to his property.

And a pot lounge would probably do quite well there, that part of the street needs a breath of life.

I don't think it looks bad either, from the picture. I really need to take a walk along James... it's been a while.

There's now a "vapour lounge" in the heart of downtown Burlington. If this staid and upstanding community can be home to one, then Hamilton should be just fine.

Vapour lounges aren't necessarily pot. It could be hooka and flavoured tobacco or E cigarettes. Pot lounges aren't that bad either. They'll cause less problems than a bar on Hess Village on a Saturday night in July.

Also i dont mind what they did with the front of the building.

I walked by the place today and the advertisement on the glass says something about quitting smoking or something to that effect, so it must be e cig or flavored tobacco vapor. There are other ones in the city and they're not a big deal. People are probably confusing it with that whole Up in Smoke thing, was was an entirely different type of establishment.

Well the government is banning or regulating e-cigarettes and vaping will be treated just like smoking, so that may affect somebody's business model.

Outside of a few pockets of colour in the Maritimes and Newfoundland, most of what you see in this country is shades of grey and brown. In our climate, with our long, miserable winters, we should be pushing bright and cheerful colours - primary or pastels. Why are we so afraid?
