Is that blue box with the RBC logo in the front of the picture a drive-through ATM?

Yes, it's been there for many years. It's very popular and I seem to recall that it was the reason the bank didn't wind up moving into the new development. (because they wouldn't be able to keep the drive thru, since it's only grandfathered).

Ah, grandfathered. Thanks.

Any ideas why new drive throughs are not allowed? I get it is a city issue, but any ideas behind the reasoning?

Cars = Evil, according to the Vision lexicon.

There is a RBC drive-thru ATM also at the Kitsilano Safeway.

the city banned drive thrus quite a number of years ago, hence why starbucks took over a few spots in the city that had drive thrus, like the olkd KFC on hastings and why the mcdonalds on main street probably won't be leaving that spot anytime soon

surrounding cities however can have drive thrus

Wow the development turned out great. Thanks for the pics. I'll try and check this one out in person if I have some time next time I'm back.

I like everything except the exposed concrete pillars.

I agree. The building looks very nice from all angles and the exterior finishes look high-end. This is the color scheme I would love to see more on taller towers rather that eternal teal / sea foam. Many new towers in Toronto are this color, so why not here?

Lots of units on rental market right now and I have to say many are priced very high considering their location and size. Interesting view:

Thanks for the picture.

I find when new buildings are completed, landlords use their new mortgage payment as a basis for what they are asking for in rent. Which is of course, backwards.

I really like the building too. Don't like the area though.

City of North Van has banned them too.

They are asking $2500-3000 for units that are under 1000sqf in size. I find that expensive considering you are down in Marpole (or more fancily said "South Granville").

That area isn't what I would consider desirable. Aside from the sad collection of retail on granville there is nothing remotely interesting there (for me anyways)

Resales in this project are going for $850-950 per SF.

I personally don't understand the appeal of the location, but clearly there's a market for it.

Airline pilots? I can't think of any other market that would be interested and could afford it. No rapid transit, no high end employment nearby. Weird.

Could be wealthy retired immigrants - close to Richmond without being in Richmond (i.e. greener, leafier streets nearby for strolling) and close to Shaughnessy if relatives live there. There are a number of Chinese restaurants nearby on Granville and there's a supermarket downstairs.
