"Potentially retail space"...there definitely needs to be street retail. I hate blank walls and dead space, especially in a prime real estate area like Midtown.

haha this NCR deal.. just.. its pretty massive news honestly. That;s going to fill in one of the biggest holes along the connector and work so well as a location it just makes too much sense. theyll have a whole campus worth of recruits right next door. im sure they will work closely with Ga Tech on all sorts of projects. Will be a huge influx of new people into the midtown district who will be shopping, eating, living there etc.. NCR should just build their own pedestrian bridge across the connector at 8th street to funnel those students right into their offices

Zoning will require at least some at the street--

Given everything you've stated (and for all the reasons NCR has given), why is it that we as a city feel the need to offer up tax breaks and incentives to every company that hints at wanting to move in-town (as well as every developer that wants to build something). Isn't being next door to Tech, in the heart of our developing innovation district, adjacent to the connector, a block from marta, etc. incentive enough? Do we also have to offer up public money to make these things happen? Wouldn't that money be better spent improving the quality of life in these areas? I'd think at this point in the recovery (in a fairly rapidly expanding economy) that market forces would be enough to sustain development without the need for a public handout.

IMO this comment belongs in a separate discussion thread on the politics of attracting various businesses to cities, states, etc. I believe each re-location case is different and involves both practical and political decisions. Have a more thorough discussion of this controversial topic in a different thread.

Centergy North

Half of the outlined areas designated as Centergy North are already under construction and/or planned for the student tower projects and the Modera at 90 Peachtree Place. So that leaves the only opportunity for a more compact development of maybe 2 small to medium-sized towers on ~ 4 acres. Not the sprawling 4 low tower campus setting originally illustrated on 10+ acres in the development flyer.

1163 Peachtree is near to breaking ground. Demolition permits approved, and major fees paid (per online permitting info).

That's great news

Also, does anyone have any additional info regarding the 18 story Hampton Inn at West Peachtree and 15th that was presented yesterday at the DRC?

4 acres is a lot of land 1 acre alone is 43,560 square feet I bet you could easily fit another three square on 5th towers on the 4. 2 acres of land

At 32 stories, this will be the tallest residential in Atlanta since 2009. Finally some real height!

AMLI Arts Center also filed its Land development permits last month. Is that the one that is going to reconnect 15th?

So much action right now. Hope there's enough gas left in the tank for Eviva Peachtree and 98 14th St.
