I'm with you, I really hope they go ahead.
I must admit, I know next to nothing about how developers finance these large structures but it seems to me that a moderate downturn might actually benefit these buildings due to a decrease in construction costs, unless they've already locked a price in. Also new buildings shouldn't be as affected by a depressed rental market as the older builds should take the hit first.
Of course I could be totally wrong and the bean counters decide to pull the plug.
