It is a "cultural" facility, so I could definitely see that being doable.

Drove by this morning and I can happily report that construction is in full swing at both Alexan Uptown and The Confluence.

I doubt the regional voters would choose to support this. Maybe Denver can do a P3 for at least part of this. Perhaps the State would help with a (CSU) part.
Will this be a new satellite campus for CSU in Denver or just more of an agricultural extension tied to the Stock Show? It certainly makes sense for CSU to have more of an urban campus possibly with research-related facilities in Denver.

it would seem that this project already has already broken ground, as the site states.....

Dec '14

.... since the past tense STARTED is used here..... well..... groundbreaking has happened..... and this will be filed as a 2014 project eh?

Really?

Other than what info I get here..... or other public online sites.... I wouldn't know this. From this

http://denverinfill.com/blog/2013/05/union-station-16-chestnut-project-update.html

it looks like an okay building - I'll admit that it's not really anything to turn cartwheels over, but I can't see it being that awful... at least aesthetically, to hold up a review process? I don't see this building sticking out from the rest of it's neighbors one way or the other.....

I have to ask here though.... could it be that maybe the developers are holding back a bit because the demand just isn't quite there yet?

Okay..... learn something new every day eh? The Kimpton is Block A......

And let's keep our fingers crossed that One Belleview does actually begin this January.....so I can at least get one out of three here...... didn't supposedly this project (or similar on this site) actually have a planned groundbreaking date sometime in 2008...... hmmmmmmm?

Oh well......

Cool!

These buildings are going up in super speed it seems then? Didn't this project enter the city review phase not even a year ago?

Maybe it's my 'maturing' here in my years, or maybe it's just been such a long time since I'd paid attention to time frames with this.... but didn't building buildings (like about 15 stories and up) usually take at least a couple of years from groundbreaking to the beginning of their intended utility? These buildings here seem to be going up and being ready in less than a year? Like everything else, probably as all the high tech just keeps getting higher and higher and that helps an awful lot in speeding things up and up.

So now, along with the dual Hyatt, anticipated finishes of Denver (City and County only) high rises for 2015 are:

1. The Triangle Building - 10 stories
2. Platform at Union Station - 21 Stories
3. Denver Airport Westin Hotel - 14 stories
4. 88 Steele Creek - 12 stories
5. 1601 Wewatta - 10 stories
6. Hyatt Place - 21 stories
7. EnV - 16 stories

anything else in terms of highrise (35m or taller/12 stories or more) being completed in 2015?

So now, with that, we'll have about 7 or so finished shiny new highrises, a handful more still under construction, and then about 14 more starting in 2015. Info accurate enough here?

Anyways..... I think that there seems to be a lot of activity happening here in terms of development for a city of this size.... one really that's geographically in the middle of nowhere.... but within the last couple of years maybe a lot of folks not being from here have acquired the idea that here (at least for the time being) is where to be?

Although maybe better choice of wording to be

3. Denver Airport Westin Hotel (14 floors)/Train Station/South Terminal addition,

yes?

Anyways, the hotel/etc. there is all very unique, and is going to be some more fantastic architecture that will be added to this city.

A couple more potential candidates for completion in 2015:
  • 1st + Steele - 12 stories
  • 100 Saint Paul - 8 stories (31 m)

These already make quite the visual impact, along with Steele Creek, driving east on 1st Ave from University. Also the new 3 story Restoration Hardware helps make the mall feel less detached from Cherry Creek North. Makes me wonder if eventually there will be more stores attached to the mall but with their retail frontages along 1st.

I'm amazed nobody has said anything about this on here...

New Union Station Project: Hilton Garden Inn
Via DenverInfill

Quote:
Denver-based Focus Property Group is planning to build a 12-story Hilton Garden Inn on their property at 20th Street and Chestnut Place. The new hotel will have an L-shaped footprint that wraps around the historic Denver Hose Company No. 1 building that will be fully restored and incorporated as part of the project

Well if they call it the hoes company hotel, probably would be an interesting stay.

Great project, but we had already talked about a bit a couple weeks back.

There is also a thread for it in Highrise Proposals section and a placeholder in the Denver Database Proposed section.

Thanks for the additional information though.

Wow... I didn't see this coming. That's the old Blake St Tavern location, but is now home to Rino's on Black - another Brewer. I wonder how that's going to play out..
