Has it been mentioned when the basement CRU space below Nordstrom will open? Hopefully not as long a wait as for Nordies.

I think I recall them saying it would open earlier.

... I guess they are behind schedule. This is from the original Sept 17, 2012 news release:

New retail stores on the lower level are expected to open in late 2014 while Nordstrom and the office space are to open in 2015.

Construction is well underway on the site. The office space is expected to open in early 2015. New retail stores on the lower level are expected to open in Spring 2015. Nordstrom is expected to open in Fall 2015.

From the Urban Toronto forum - looks like what I would have liked to see for the Granville frontage is actually happening at the Toronto Eaton Centre store - 2-storey streetfront retail carved out of the old Sears building, with the balance of the space behind for mall and Nordstrom.

Sort of. Nordstrom may have an L shape. Mid way to Dundas, it'll start fronting Yonge street. The alleged Apple Store would go in one of those stores on the right facing Yonge St. All of those stores will be two stories high so we should see some more high profile retailers with a presence on Yonge. This will really liven the street I think.

The current hallway runs inside of what would be those stores. They're building Nordstrom along with the finished hallway behind the hoardings. When they're ready, the hoarding will come down and new hoarding erected to start building the individual stores fronting Yonge.

BTW - looking into the Vancouver store at night, you can see a lot of steel studs being installed - seems like the space may be chopped up a bit.
Looks like there will be a lot of internal walls - probably for shop-in-shop / concession boutiques?

BTW - looking into the Vancouver store at night, you can see a lot of steel studs being installed - seems like the space may be chopped up a bit.
Looks like there will be a lot of internal walls - probably for shop-in-shop / concession boutiques?

have you seen pics of the calgary store? they have some designer sections with their own cash register areas, not really boutique though, kind of like how the bay has done it

Haven't see detailed Calgary Nordstrom pics - but I guess it'll be alcove areas a bit like Holt Renfrew men's in Vancouver, but with cash registers?

I think it's a waste of mental energy trying to make sense of any feature on this schizophrenic building.

~~it will be nice sometime next year when that Cadillack Fairview sign and those empty windows will be replaced with retails signage "Norstroms, Uniqo"!!! Wondering where they will put the Uniqo store as most of their stores are on a taller scale and they have those display mannequins moving up and down.

I think I may have figured it out. Cheng is trying to out-do Enriquez (sic?) for the number of head-scratching embellishments in a single building.
