Is there a city policy or process that they use in applying LED lights to a lamppost? E.g., only when they are burned-out, or only on new developments, or only on low-light blocks?
The quicker the better for the whole city IMO

Visible in that pic - is that a new sign on Wall Centre ("Wall (S)")?

I only noticed it last night.

Yes, indeed. The sign showcases Wall's new corporate branding - Simply "Wall" and alongside in the same white is the Sheraton logo. VERY bright I must say! Similar font to the new B5 on Bentall 5.

The brighter, the better. Would be nice to see some colour in that signage, but oh well.

Nothing now but IT is part of the removal of Granville loops. So something eventually will go there. It was just in poor condition and no point in putting money I to it. (That's my understanding anyway)

i never realized how close that new rental building is to the hotel. i thought the city required a minimum distance between buildings?

I think it's in keeping with the Granville streetwall.

There's some setback and the angle on the rental building preserves some view for the hotel units:

Another 2010 Olympic legacy lost.
Now we'll just have to wait and see if there's a telus logo on their new building ...

Yeah - there's two of them - they've been up for a while now.
Boring gray, lighted white.

I think back in the earlier days of LED traffic light technology, the city of Kelowna replaced all of their traffic lights with LEDs. It was a very large capital expense however it paid off just a few years later with reduced electricity bills. I think the break-even point was realized within a 10 year term. That doesn't include the indirect savings in reduced accidents.

There's some information about the east loops site in this Sun article - it's a few months old though...
