How much larger than the current Central Library will this be in terms of floor space?

The DP was submitted for the new library on a couple of weeks ago, so should now be available to the public if anyone wants to look at it.

they must have their shoring permit, they've been driving piles for a good month or two.

I think all of those piles are for the c-train encapsulation. I imagine those are considered separate projects even though they are working towards the same goal.

Do we have any data on the height of this building? I doubt it's 35 meters, but could still be loaded into the diagrams database as a lowrise. It is a fairly important building so should be included.

Also, walked by there yesterday and the piling work for the tunnel looks to be almost done, they have poured the concrete that the tunnel walls will be resting on for a good portion of it.

Soooo no data on height?

It's obviously a 5 storey building, but it appears to have the height of a 7 storey due to very high floors. So I would guess between 20 and 30 meters?

Anybody know if floorplans are also available for viewing? I am curious to see how they have designed the circulation and the various programming spaces.

I seem to recall something about the DP being submitted, must be coming up online soon I would think.

One of the other finalists, did we miss out? I love the chosen building, but this one certainly has a better public realm element surrounding the building. Hopefully that part of the chosen NCL design improves.

Agree with your thought process. That design was done by an artist and not a design engineer, and/or without cost in mind.

That's some epic cantilevered action! Jimby posted this on FB last night and I wasn't really blown away. But looking at it again the public realm is amazing. Especially the hockey rink. It would be interesting to see how they go about incorporating the LRT in that design. But I do wonder about cost comparisons.
