Looks like they ran out of concrete and steel and the rest of the building will be built out of wood. Makes sense since wood construction is the preferred material for big buildings in LA and totally fire proof and earthquake resistant and everything.

^The smell of rich mahogany commands higher rents. This is a genius move by the developer. Besides, safety concerns can easily be alleviated by the addition of a few more sprinkler heads per floor. Plus, wood is obviously earthquake-proof. Just look at all the trees still standing after the Northridge quake.
I just looked on the Metropolis live can and you can kind of see the blue formwork through the crane on the right. They just jumped the remainder of the forms on the left side since you took your pictures earlier.
