Right at the heart of downtown, at the corner of Vancouver's two ceremonial streets.

By the "north plaza," are you referring to the top end of Robson Square, where Robson cuts through it, Or the Georgia Street side plaza?
I'd like to see the sunken area of Robson Square brought up to grade, as long as it doesn't mean chopping back the waterfalls.

As for Georgia St plaza, I'd simply like to remove that "Disneyland" fountain, repave it in keeping with the rest of Robson Square, light up the front of the VAG,
(esp the regal lions), plant evergreens (like Scottish pines and rhodendrons, to prevent that bleak look in winter), and ditch those other three design proposals.

I think it is pretty obvious that he means the Georgia Street side, as that is the only one under nay kind of re-planning. The question is good though and I was wondering about the same recently.

Vancouver is not Toronto, heck its not even Calgary, accept Vancouver for what it is, it is not a skyscraper metropolis for better or for worse. A nice 750 footer is the reality of what might be built.

Taller is better! It would be nice to have a few 750ft+ towers in Vancouver....Maybe in 50 years we will get a 1000ft tower.

All the water falls are on!!!! I couldn't believe it. It looked awesome. I don't think I've ever seen them on. Lots of people taking pics of them too. Sorry if this is old news. But it was a surprise to see

i noticed that to. a few weeks ago i noticed they were on. they look and sound so nice to. makes the area a lot nicer.

They have them on for few weeks every summer, but I don't think they keep them running all day. They do indeed look nice and the sound of falling water is nice. They also attract more people to Law Courts roof when they are on to enjoy the nice garden up there.

They have them on for a few weeks every summer? Haha ok 🞵🞵🞵? Why just a few weeks? That's ridiculous. This is such a pet peeve of mine. Buildings that build water features and then turn around and not use them. I'd rather them just not build anything!! (Same thing goes for light features)

Thanks for the heads up. I went through Robson Square today and it's really great to see the waterfalls all on and going full blast. The sights and sounds of cascading water transforms the area and makes it a much more pleasant place to spend some time in. I was watching some families with little ones and the parents were kept busy trying to keep the kids from getting into the water. They are naturally drawn to it like magic and stared awestruck at the falling water.

And I was just one of several photographers trying to get some good images. Young couples in love like to sit together around there and one couple was really getting into it so I had to shoot around them.

This has always been one of my favourite views of the city. The old, the new, and the courtyard in between. Several Vancouver landmarks are included as well which really heightens its sense of place.

Was walking around there tonight at 2am and, to my delight, the fountains were still on. They looked really nice with the lights behind them. A few years ago they were left on all the time, but then that changed for some reason. The area looks much, much better with the water running; when it's off, it's like a dead zone.

I think water features, such as the ones here, and elsewhere, really contribute to making a city feel great.
Take Kansas City. More fountains than any other city beside Rome -- smack in the middle of the continental USA, icy winters and all!
Despite our rain, I would like to see more water features in Vancouver. Robson Square is a great place to start !!

Vancouver already does public water features very extensively and very well. I am not sure when you have last time walked around Coal Harbour or Yaletown, but they are everywhere and they are very nice. We have them even in the suburbs, like River Green in Richmond.

There can always be more (and there will be), but certainly Vancouver is showing other cities examples on water features rather than the other way around.

Hmmm, I have never been to KC. Any examples of their fountains (I am too lazy to search myself). Thanks.
