Really? I feel the opposite.. Thought renders looked good but now seeing it built, I don't like it that much... The cladding isn't very good and there seems to be very limited amount of windows. Plus that roof makes is very awkward and flat with the Mechanical penthouse pertruding over it.. They should've added a couple of floor to match the top of mechanical room.

I have to agree also... this is by far one of the biggest let downs in terms of what the render looks like and what we actually got. from a company like Windmill you wouldn't expect this.

the render doesn't show any mechanical roof like that, and it doesn't show any black cladding (cheap looking metal vinyl looking black cladding at that)

the render shows a sleek glass clad or glass looking spandrel clad building with great curves. this actual building missed the mark so far it isn't even funny.

I know Windmill is big on being a green company and i wonder if this somehow has anything to do with the redesign but you can make a green building look nice it shouldn't be an excuse.

i hope this doesn't prove to be a pattern for the island project.

OTSkyline and Boxter, you guys gotta be cray.
There of course is some things that could have been done different, but also remember, this is designed to be LEED certified, and windows dont usually lend themselves to efficiency. As for the mecanical penthouse, I think it looks pretty good. Kind of like a crown on the tower, not made of gold, but made of something more human, steel cladding.

Plus, if the did add floors to match the Mechanical, nobody would want to live there, it doesnt really lend itself to eing a high class condo living next to a mechanical penthouse.

Probably the worst "modern" mechanichal roof I have ever seen. The balance of the rooftop space could have been put to good use. Perhaps they should of dropped by Le VIU to see how things should be done.

Don't forget that we are talking about some units priced at over $600/sq.ft. Not worth it given the amneties.

You know, the only real difference I see from the renders is that the Mechanical room is actual apartments, as thought the forgot they needed mechanicals. The glass that you see in the renders is actually a combination of glass and panels, so not too different.

There are ways of making nice roof tops that can be enjoyed by all occupants....and I am not referring to HP1 and HP2 which also missed the boat.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who things this way..

If they couldn't raise the roof to match the mechanical penthouse to do condos, they should've raised it to match and create a unified roof and then use that extra space as an amenity room.. Imagine a top floor amenity room with sweeping views of... Pimisi and Portage?

We are definitely on side on this one!

So many possibilities for common areas with stunning views. What a waste of real estate!

I guess it all boils down to cost.

I agree it's a bit off the mark from the renderings, especially the west façade, but all in all, I think it's a great addition to the Escarpment skyline. Modern, different from everything else in the area, tall enough to make a significant impact and take your eye away from the horrid Claridge project down on LBF.

Haven't been down that way in a while, but based on the comments here, I'm itching to get down there and see for myself.
