The Cirrus Logic expansion looks almost finished.

Also, anyone know what's going on with the old ACM building?

^I just happened to be reading this, which explains it:

Also Monday, Google announced it is building a “Fiber Space” in a building at 201 Colorado St. in downtown Austin that was once home to the Austin Children’s Museum.

When it opens sometime next month, the Fiber Space will allow Central Texans to learn more about Google Fiber. It will also serve as a community space, Google said, hosting concerts, forums and other events.
The article also reveals the Google Fiber prices.

Here are a few pictures that I took as well.

Fall foliage

Renovations at 100 Congress completed. The building looks much more inviting now than before.

Crappy shot of The Catherine, but you can see they are putting up wood panels on the eastern garage portion, similar to that of The Bowie.

Austin's "fall foliage display" is pretty damn pathetic when compared to the northern states. Just sayin'.

Actually this fall has been quite nice with the trees turning colors, but also wanted to go by loop 360 and take some fall pictures but woke up to late.

We have too many Oak trees. haha None of our's change color, but the pecans and elms here do. The sycamores and ash are also. I've actually seen some good colors here and there. Our neighbor across the street has some kind of small tree, and it looks like a tomato.

Taking fall color tours on the weekends is something we did every year when I was growing up in Michigan. The colors were awesome, and varied a little each year depending on the weather.

Spring and Fall are my favorite seasons. Winter just looks to barren and Summer can be too brutal. I'm hoping I can make it down to Vanderpool pretty soon to take pictures of the foliage down there.

Was up in NY in early Oct...my avatar is one of many pictures I took...I thought the fall leaves looked awesome, the locals said the over abundance of rain made this year's fall less impressive. Would like to add Crepe Myrtles to our decent foliage list.

1155 Barton Springs (Former Treehouse)

Not sure if there is a thread on this one yet. I was down at Citywide yesterday and noticed the Treehouse had been torn down. I thought this project was killed by the neighborhood association. Is it back on? http://www.1155bartonsprings.com

Schultz Property (Hooters)

Does anyone know about plans to develop the old Charles Schultz owned property where Hooters is located at Riverside, Barton Springs and South First? I hope something develops there during this economic upswing cycle.

This year's fall color is the best I've seen in at least 10 years. What makes this year different is that long stretch of consistently well below normal temperatures. It basically jump started many of the species to change at the same time, something that doesn't always happen here. The colors, though not as brilliant as those up north, are quite bright and because most of the different species have changed at the same time, (Red Oaks in the city seem to be the last to change), there's wider variation in color compaird to the past several years. I got some great pictures I've snapped of trees around the city, I'll try to post them in the off topic section later.

Amen to that. Nothing says "class act" quite like having a Hooters in one of the most prominent locations in the city. What, the city council didn't offer enough incentives to entice the Yellow Rose to build there? Or maybe a combo drive-through bank, Jack-In-The-Box, and AAA Bail Bonds. A Liquor Barn staffed by bikini-clad young women. Damn, I should be on the planning commission...

It is actually another case of a business going in somewhere when no one else wanted it. It's been there years. That land was tied up in estate forever and not avaiable. ( not defending Hooters..... just giving perspective.... Austin has changed so fast sometimes it easy to over look how diifferent the city was 10-1 years ago)
