We now know the project is serious. The 27 storey tower will be a 288 room hotel. The 41 storey tower will measure 139m, and have 241 residences (only!!).

The Royal Tower - 115 meters - 34 storeys - Calgary

Named for its proximity to the neighbourhood of Mount Royal.

Just 139m? Disappointing. I thought it looked to be at least as tall as Roccabella from the renders.

Yeah I was expecting something like 150-160m based on the rendering.

But hey, 139m is the height of Le V, or the Chateau Champlain, or the Telus Tower. It's decent.

Forum member Klazu just uncovered a motherload of new information on VancouverHouse's website.

The building is approved, and should start construction soon, but there isn't a "The Great Canadian Approved Thread", so it'll go here for now.

This is by far Vancouver's coolest-looking new project.

Wow such a cool project!! Jealous...

To me, Vancouver house is the better (almost twin) version of Telus Sky.

The view of Vancouver House with the beamer on the overpass at eye level with the guy in the condo is the most futuristic looking environment in all of Canada. Wow.

I love Telus Sky but what elevates this project for me is the use of the environment around the building.

I love how they've repurposed the space under the viaduct into some kind of night market/public square. Almost Japanese!

On the other hand, I think that living in the units under the shadow of the viaduct might be a tough sell. Are those office spaces?...or social housing?

Telus Sky and Vancouver House certainly share a lot and are almost the same building with the twist just being other way around. It would look interesting if the other future "gateway building" on the opposite side of Granville Bridge would be like Telus Sky. Together the two would complement each other nicely.

This is definitely going to be one of the most exciting developments in Vancouver after Trump Tower is soon completed.

Looking at this again I wonder if the building on the right takes into account freezing rain. If not I could see some dangerous ice sheets forming and causing an effect similar to the Port Mann bridge's ice torpedoes.

Nice project, but your pics made my iphone crash. We could have done without the interior design stuff.

Man those were some awesome renders. I find when the renders are top notch, the building usually turns out to be epic as well.

Great proposal Vancouver!

Having been to all major Canadian cities over the past few years except TO(decade ago), Van has the best public realm in the country by a wide margin. If only the affordability ratio looked better.

Don't blame the images, blame the user's device.
