More wooden ribs have been installed (presumably another piece will cover the bottom of the "v")

It looks possible that the panels on the undersides of the projecting boxes on the tower will be backlit, as depicted in some renderings:

Cool - never noticed that.
That would explain the use of glass instead of aluminum panel to clad the protruding boxes.
(But I wonder how long it will take to fall into disrepair, like the colour changing LEDs inside the second skin of the William Farrell Building?)

Oh man you posted the render from the Telus Garden commercial I worked on. Fun fact: in the commercial, the space where you see Greg Henriquez sketching in front of the window is actually the penthouse of the Living Shangri La. Additionally, the sketch he is drawing of the Telus Garden on that desk is actually my own lol

I took like a zillion photos of the ShangriLa penthouse after the shoot and I've always been meaning to show them here but I keep getting 2busy2post them. The views of the city from there are SPECTACULAR

Pretty curious to see how that wood rib thing is going to turn out… looks a bit odd at the moment, but then it's only half-built.

I wonder whether the wooden rib structure will make the office tower lobby space feel small and closed-in?
Without it, the lobby ceiling would soar to the underside of the tower slab (like many towers downtown) -
here, you have a canopy cutting that height in half.

there's only two things really that bug me about this project;
1) the openable windows
2) those ridiculous sun shades on the south side. they look way too oversized and let's face it, this isn't Arizona. is it really necessary?

i.e. the 46 storey tower directly south of the office building won't provide enough sun shading, so they really, really need them.

At the old Central Library, on redevelopment into Virgin, etc., they removed the movable vertical sun louvres on the Robson side (a unique feature) because the office block across the street made them redundant.

yeah but 99% of buildings here don't have sun shades facing the same direction and seem to manage (including condos with no AC). at least this has AC so I don't see the point other than it's a checkmark for LEED certification or something. there will be blinds no doubt-

Are those pieces still made of wood? that is easily my favourite feature of this project so I hope so.
