Does anyone know what the fine herring bone mesh is up against the rebar? I have seen it used in other construction projects before but do not see its purpose. Can some enlighten me please.
All I have found online is steel mesh of different kinds is used to give extra Reinforcement to the rebar in concrete.
I was downtown at 9 in the morning yesterday. They were lifting and installing the 2nd rerbar cage the one closest to this picture 2nd from the right. They also jumped the inner formwork after I left. Last Tuesday they were jumping at the same locations a floor down. Just so you know a worker said every jump is 14' Hotel floors will be 12'
Great shots! Obviously taken from inside the project site? If so tell us more
Those are just off the website, I didn't shoot them. They're always a week or so behind posting those photos. SSP members who post their own photos are more up to date.
I was down there this afternoon. A full crew was at work and all of the cranes were going. All of the rebar cages on the eastern 1/2 of the core you see were placed today. The internal forms were jumped after this picture was taken.
Interesting the core is rising so fast ahead of the building. Would the core be designed to be self supporting in case of an earthquake? I figured most buildings designed in CA need the whole building to counteract against the earth's forces? Do we know if the building will be a concrete superstructure or cast in place above the garage?
