Okay public works peeps on here, you also have (awesome) colored logo signs? Why couldn't we have done that in the first place?

I'm really not a big fan of that D Denver logo, and even less of a fan of it starting to appear on street signs now. It's way too cartoonish, and I liked the old city flag much better.

It's much much much better in color than the boring green ones though. I like it.

I love the Denver D logo. It's colorful and features sunshine, mountains, and a skyscraper. That's Denver!

went downtown with my suburbanite mother for dinner last night.

she was very impressed with all of the development around Union Station. I had to laugh when she pointed at Alta City House and said "That's not a skyscraper. Shouldn't that be taller?"

On another note, does anyone know if RTD is going to be stringing electric wires and building supports under the train canopy when the east line begins service? I figure it will kinda ruin the aesthetics of the train canopy, no??

And are they really not going to provide some sort of protection from the elements? Seems like such a waste to have those bare bones supports in the middle of the station, with no covering over them. wtf??

A new tenant was just announced for 16M. Does that mean the building's restaurant & retail spaces are full already?

Edit: this article in the Post was published on Nov 6th, so maybe this was already covered here.

I had not seen any info on 16M and the new steakhouse, STK. thanks for posting.. That stretch of the mall is really accumulating some great dining options. I found the CEO's quotes interesting regarding his love of LoDo's energy and re-invention. People are taking notice and it's likely another industry leader is wandering around Denver on his way to a ski trip, who suddenly feels that he/she wants their company to be a part of it.

With the increased foot traffic and commerce potential in this area, I've got to believe something big will eventually happen to the market street station right across the street. I'll be anxious to see what eventually becomes of that site, because it would be a catalyst for further Investment along Market. 18th street, anyone?

Just for clarification, I like the logo "D" just fine. Whether it looks good or needs to be on a green street sign a different question.

It's kind of needed to make sure the trains can enter the station. You'll see overhead wires on four of the platforms in the next couple of years.

Due to the prevalence of copper thefts, electric wiring is usually one of the very last projects undertaken. Waiting until the last minute, when they are able to run electricity through the wires provides a shocking incentive for thieves to not steal the wiring.

Zmapper... I think the thieves may be more sophisticated or at least creative down here in the desert. Of course that doesn't include the one obvious meth head that got fried. They love to attack the freeways and pull the copper from the lights. Decent bang for the buck.

Back when foreclosed, empty homes seemed as common as occupied ones in some areas it was feast city. It became quite the cottage industry down here. "You mean that wasn't the cleanup/fix-up crew?" "Nope, just your crew of common thieves." Not only wiring but A/C units, plumbing fixtures, lights, appliances, whatever had value.

I Know someone among us is coveting this information, but I heard a development is coming to downtown Denver soon. To the extent of 90 Stories I'm height! Very big project. Visited with a friend of mine the other day, he wouldn't give specifics. But he also wouldn't blow smoke up my ass or have any reason talk about something like this, if there wasn't some truth behind it.

I'm trying to find any information out there, coming up empty handed though. Either way I'm so excited to see Denver finally end up getting over the 1,000 foot Mark, and see our skyline move onto the next level...

Or my fantasy on Block 138? Just take good care of Bubba Gump Shrimp.

I mean right smack dab across from the the Colorado Convention Center. Assembled, you've got the lots along 15th Street between Stout and California Streets as well as the lots along California Street between 14th and 15th Streets. Is it possible that some entity not yet involved in the Denver RE market is about to swoop in?

denverinfill.com

Either block would be good of course.

FYI, the bottom right corner is slated to be a dual-brand hotel.
