I really wonder what will eventually have to be done about that. Will we eventually end up with a second one somewhere? It's good we're getting the big convention hotels with their own space to substitute the space the convention center can't expand to. I really wish they had thought ahead and built the convention center within the view corridors of the Capitol where it doesn't matter to have a sprawling short building. I guess it could still be done in the Capitol Complex, but then the city would have to negotiate with the state, and I don't see that being very successful.
Can anyone think off the top of their head a city in the US that has two convention centers?

EDIT: Houston obviously. According to wikipedia, Hartford does as well

Nice photo. For comparison - here is that same basic view at night from the same vantage point, but from December 2009:

I took a picture yesterday in what will be a new entertainment venue called The Riley at W.4th & Lavaca.

Picture of what it will look like once complete.

New Development Expected on West 5th Street

http://austin.twcnews.com/content/ne...st-5th-street/

Quote:
Schlosser Development is planning to build an office building in a parking lot in the area known as the Market District, which is at West Fifth and Sixth streets and Lamar.

Developers closed the lot Monday to comply with a flood zone city ordinance. They did not give any details about the building or when construction will begin...

I don't know. There have been so many different versions of it. I remember 15 floors, 18, 24, 27, 30. Who knows.

The album cover of the new foo fighters album "Sonic Highways" has a famous Austin building in it. Can you find it? Of course you can.

Is that the 360 Bridge/Pennybacker Bridge in the bottom left corner...to the left of the tiny Frost Tower?

Really want to see some big proposals for Austin--just saying. I follow all the projects and I was so stoked for the Fairmont but now that it's been scaled down and gone through a design change I'm disappointed.
What I really want to ask is; what is the probability of Austin getting some big projects? What are they doing on that former T. Stacy site? Hoping for Waller Center to hit it out of the park.

This one looks to be the biggest one now. There's even a rumor it may be close to 70 floors from what someone said on the forum.

You can forget about the T. Stacy site. They're renovating the 5-story building there now and adding a larger parking garage.

What a shame for such a prime location. As for the energy control center, yeah I was wondering what was going to be going on there but I guess I either bypassed the linked thread or it got lost. How about block 11 on the greenwater project?

There is no Block 11 on the Green Water project. But none of Trammel Crow's publicly released info about the Green Water towers has anything taller than what's going up there now.

Speaking of Capital Ridge, the other day I spotted the new Hotel Granduca on I 35 & 290. Quite the building cluster once your at that location looking west.
