Costco, Fifty Road out, Red Hill in?

I am hearing Costco has bailed from the planned Fifty Road power center and has now committed to a location at the top of the RedHill in Effort Trust's Heritage Greene development. Apparently it will be adjacent to the the new McDonald's now being constructed and directly across from Home Depot and the Cineplex. It also appears the Longo's and other stores slated for this land will now be located on the 'earlobe' property that Effort Trust recently acquired which is located right at the on/off ramp for the Redhill/Linc.

Anyone else hearing this? Does this mean the Fifty Road development is dead? From a commercial standpoint, given the small surrounding population base, the Fifty Road location really does require a leap of faith that people will choose to travel that far out of their way. Maybe Costco got cold feet and went for a more sure thing?

Well the Winona area was just approved to expand by 20 000 or so residents in the next 20 years by the city. So the population is coming to that area. The area has really been built up in the last 15 years, as well as Grimsby. More to come.

Of note TD was originally supposed to have a branch at 50 rd but pulled out last minute as well.

Costco would fit like a glove at Heritage Greene. And yeah, HG is the safer, more reliable option here.

Another cash machine for Costco. Meadowlands is so incredibly busy, I am sure they won't feel a thing when it opens in HG.

They could be building in both locations. Two more in the area could work for them.
