Forgot to mention crews were planting lots more trees and had rolls of grass ready on hand on Sat. at the new Beltline park off Macleod.

Cool! That's going to be a cool space! Now all that's left is for the city to stop being a bunch of douches and let the guy move that historic house so that Club Sport can start!!!

Hmmm. My take on it is the property owner is the douche for off-loading their responsibility onto the City. It doesn't help that Heritage Park will not take heritage buildings as they want to build new faux shit.

What I heard at the last forum meeting was that it was the city throwing up the road blocks, but it could have been incorrect info.

No one wants to fund the restoration unfortunately.

The impression I get, and this may have changed from a year ago, with the Enoch Sales issue is:

1) owner is happy to move the house, and even throw some $$ at restoring it, but then wants to still basically 'own' it and be the landlord while it sits on City property after the move
2) the city is not allowed to sole source, they need to do an RFP
3) Of course on one hand that makes sense, on another an RFP seems silly since only the owner has the ability to hand over the house

I had heard that maybe they were going to transfer the house to the CLMC which has far more leeway at 'wheeling and dealing'. But regardless, the public and the Beltline and other stakeholders need to apply pressure, as I believe the park is nearly completion and currently the space that house is supposed to occupy is being repurposed due to the delays.

Again this is the grapevine info I had heard over the past year or two.

It wasn't just about the restoration, even just moving the house has gotten huge roadblocks from the city. I think Boris and SquattingBear know more than I do about it.

Why wouldn't NewUrban pay for all costs of restoring if they're given prime park space land for free? Why they making it into such a big deal, if they were really serious about building ClubSport I don't think they'd be dragging their feet over moving the house. I'm pretty sure they're going to list this land just like they did with Curtis Block.

It's them being given park space for free that I believe the city can't really do. Also I believe ClubSport is dormant.

Overall I really like the plan. The viewing decks at both the boat launch and by the wave at the 10th street bridge will be great areas to catch some sun and enjoy having the river right there.

Other notes:

-further to the east there is a dedicated bike path on that completely unused green space between the current multi-modal pathway and the Eau Claire condos.
-Due to it being Federally controlled they cannot remove the heliport

Poppy Plaza really needs to put a coffee shop or Boxwood-like restaurant inside of that brick building. It's such a prime spot for it...yet instead we get to watch them build canoes or whatever. At the moment, I don't think the plaza is utilized as much by people as it could be.

Totally agree with a restaurant idea. The Boxwood got it right and this should be emulated. You could use the back side of the building for a nice river facing patio in the sun. Would be quite the spot.

De-expressifying Memorial would also help integrate it to the area. The real barrier between N-S connectivity isn't really the river, its Memorial Drive. Cuts off the great public realm improvements in Kensignton area from the beauty of the river and the improvements along it.

You could never really get rid of the road altogether, however tightening things up and add a few more lights into Sunnyside would help make the area nicer and more attractive to be in rather than strangely isolated.

The lack of a crossing at the Peace bridge still just boggles my mind. Perhaps it is something to revisit in the future now that the bridge has proved to be significantly more popular and well-used than predicted.
