This city is absolutely on fire! I don't think there's been this much going on since I moved here in Sept. 2000

Yup. This late summer/early fall has just been an explosion of announcements. Incredible.

Any ideas where exactly this Hotel Indigo would be located? It sure would be nice to fill in that little surface lot right at Portman and Spring.

Isn't this going into 230 Peachtree?

Ah, it would seem so. Well, as much as I love new construction, anything that adds yet more hotel rooms to downtown is welcome in my book.

And it's great that there's finally dirt turning on more projects in Midtown now. Does anyone have a list of all of the projects underway in Midtown?

RH Atlanta, The Gallery at the Estate in Buckhead

Restoration Hardware's Buckhead store, its Southern flagship, will open this fall, (across from Buckhead Atlanta) according to published reports.RH CEO and Chairman Gary Friedman says that "Atlanta will present more than three times the product assortment of our Houston full-line design gallery and more than seven times the assortment of presented in our current Atlanta store. We believe this new format will generate revenues and earnings that will far surpass any of the previous design galleries we have opened and provide the proof-of-concept that supports our long-term growth objective. After visiting the site recently, I believe that the Atlanta gallery will prove to be our most revolutionary innovation to-date and will demonstrate the true power of the brand we have created."

Any scuttlebutt on what's to become of the next-door old cheesecake factory? It would be really great if it could be in some way complementary to the RH. Anyway, what a nice looking Romanesque(?) facade. In terms of size this will greatly exceed their NY 5th Ave. location.

Emory Bed Tower:
I noticed the tower cranes and thought it would be a good update for this thread. This 9-storey building will open in 2017, with 210 beds, and 500 parking spaces. It will also include a new pedestrian bridge, connecting to existing structures.

There are two parcels I am interested in regarding their redevelopment. The Cheesecake Factory site as well as the McDonalds at the corner of Peachtree Ave and Peachtree Road. I'm definitely not adverse to fast food offerings in this location. However, I do feel that this location could be redevelop to be more "befitting" of this prime location. Even if it includes a McDonalds at the lower level of whatever goes its place.

I have some northern Midtown updates (west to east):

Heights at West Midtown (Bishop & 17th):

Foundation work has begun.

It's not a great location (a bit out of the way), but it looks like they're going to have some fantastic skyline views. This was taken from the ground level nearby:

Steelworks (Mecaslin & 16th):

Nearing completion. The finishes are really nice. They preserved the pocket park on the corner.

Beazer single family homes (State & 15th):

I'm not sure how sturdy they are, but the architecture and finishes of the all the Beazer homes in the area are fantastic.

The northern part of Home Park is starting to look good. There are still a lot of dilapidated rental homes between 14th and 10th, but a lot of restoration is happening between 16th and 14th.

Georgia Tech Engineered Biosystems (State & 10th):

Nearing completion. It's going to look really good with the park in front.

Center for Puppetry Arts:

Not much to see, but the trees have been cleared and site work has begun.

33 Peachtree Place (West Peachtree & Peachtree Place):

There's a whole lot of equipment at the site now. It looks like things will be moving fast.

Broadstone Terraces (Juniper & 6th):

There was a pile driver working on the site. I think they're doing soil testing.

975 Piedmont (Piedmont & 10th):

Nearing completion. The blank walls are ugly, but I suppose the thinking is that the adjacent lot will be developed soon.

I skipped the dueling student housing towers because those have been covered pretty well already.

This is a most prolonged, drawn-out drama! I believe, although I may wrong, that streetcars are not a new electrical device that needs endless beta-testing.

Umm....pretty certain that you didn't read the article and why various safety commissioning key points are being checked before it can open to passenger service.

I did read the article - it was after reading it that I posted my amazement at all this kerfuffle. If it is so complicated, I guess the drivers will have to be trained for several months. C'mon already - it is a streetcar and they are ubiquitous throughout the civilized world. I do hope it opens and runs before another year passes.
