You sure that's a podium for vertical expansion? Not too sure. Either way, there is a 250 foot height limit within 250 feet of the Parkway, so it wouldn't be taller than that. I believe there is another hotel lined up to take it's place once the Four Seasons moves.

This great photo (from a blimp ??) illustrates perfectly how Center City has evolved. Before December 12, 1986, no (completed) structure was higher than Billy Penn's Hat.

Grrr on I-95 and how our highways were put in place. How nice would it have been if the city evolved differently with spectacular commercial and residential spaces right along the river.

Just waiting to see what it will be like in a few years from now....I'm assuming FMC will be dead center in that pic, Also the new Comcast and 38th and Chestnut, Chop towers etc

*Should also note that back in the 1920's, when they were first planning what would now become 30th Street station, it was envisioned that someday Center City would expand westward across the river. (Back then the business district was mostly confined to S Broad Street and the area east of there). I've seen early station renderings back from the 1920's that envision a dense cluster of big buildings around it Now after about 90 years it's finally being realized (even more so once the Innovation neighborhood is developed according to plan)

** Also, now that I think about it, if all of what are now proposals are realized, the 2010's should be the biggest period of skyline alteration since the "trophy tower" era of the 80's early 90's!

Not sure I am a fan of this...While I would like to see Market East revitalized, I'm not sure this is the way. Lit Brothers is a beautiful piece of architecture and the signage shown in the rendering takes away from that in my eyes. More generally, if the draw that the monetary benefits a Times Square-ification of Market East promise proves too strong, I really hope it does remain contained in that area. Times Square is certainly something to see and has obviously done well for New York. But it's the worst part of Manhattan.

Madison is working on the new 3600 Civic Center Boulevard parking garage at the Hospital for the University of Pennsylvania. L.F. Driscoll is the general contractor and the selected engineer is Tim Haas. Madison will be providing more than 6,500 cubic yards of foundations and 60,000 square feet of slab-on-grade for the precast concrete parking garage. Foundation work is underway.

Talk about detail LOL, here is a City site that has the plan for the 3600 Civic Center Boulevard garage and the tower but the tower is just noted as being the location of a separate/future application.

Well, it will be on the Penn campus, one of the best-patrolled areas of the city. Not to mention that with both HUP and CHOP right there, there's a lot of activity in that area 24/7. And there are other Penn and CHOP garages nearby (e.g., Penn Museum) that have been relatively crime-free for decades. I wouldn't worry too much about crime or robberies in this particular garage:

The University of Pennsylvania Police Department (UPPD), with 116 members, is the largest private police department in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and maintains the second largest number of full-time sworn police officers amongst all private Universities across the United States, and the third largest number of sworn police officers for all Universities nationwide, both public and private.

All personnel of the UPPD are full-time sworn municipal police officers certified through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officers Training and Education Commission, and retain general law enforcement authority and order maintenance for the area in which the University of Pennsylvania is situated.
