I'm not sure. I guess so. I hope they make a plaza in the space behind the east side of the NMC. I'm not sure who owns that lot, but it would be a great place for a public space, in front of such a wonderful cultural and architectural masterpiece.

There's about 10 million gophers who would disagree...

That lot was overrun before construction and I imagine they'll be back afterwards.

Perhaps we could get a giant gopher sculpture with a cowboy hat as a tribute for their sacrifices.

Or we could just built a statue of Bill Murray in his groundskeeper role from Caddyshack - that would keep the gophers away

Is 9th Avenue a two way street there? I can't recall where it turns into a one way. Also, they better put traffic lights in there. That's gonna be one busy intersection by the time that place is operational!

Yes, I did look at the picture. My bad, with how I worded the question. What I meant to ask is if it's already a 2 way street there or if that is going to be changed from a one way to a two way at that location due to the development of the NMC.

I can't really tell from that latest picture but do the structural steel columns on the west side take up space that was formerly occupied by the King Eddy?? It kind of looks that way which suggests to me that the King Eddy won't really be rebuilt and more just the facade will be reconstructed which in my opinion is a bit of a shame. Can somebody who's actually been by the site recently comment?

They're rebuilding the façade of the King Edward Hotel around a new structural matrix which has to be connected to the NMC. They are making this section of the building a hotel/rental suites for artists, and reconstructing the famous blues bar there, which will have performances 7 days a week.

IIRC the King Eddy as it stood beforehand wasn't in good shape structurally for the development, so they had to rebuild it accordingly
