Also new hot spot for crime. Not directly blaming immigrants, but it's clear as day that gentrification through area's surrounding CC has pushed lower income families to area's of the Northeast that were more middle income households. Owners have sold their homes to slumlords who rent. Mayfair and Oxford circle have dramatically changed in the last 10 years.

I feel the lower Northeast and Middle Northeast is more Latino and Asian vs. the Far northeast being Russian and Indian.

No one should take any college ranking too seriously, and if you do, go by groups of 10 or so (e.g., top ten, 11-20, etc.). It's all just an ego building (or busting) exercise otherwise.

Well hopefully this means something happens on the vacant lot on walnut street. Im not aware of any other pending proposals for condos besides whats mentioned in this article.

One Riverside: 88 condos
500 Walnut: 40 condos
SLS International: 125 condos

And then 60 more units in Two Liberty Place.

In total, that will be 313 condo units coming on the market. We get three new towers of condos where 313 units could fit in ONE apartment building. I like it.

I didn't see - what are the top 20 floors now? Office? If yes, then I see this as a negative.

Yes, I think they are a combination of units that have never been occupied and raw floors that have never been built out.

Yep, I remember all of that very well and my family and I spent many weekends down there while I was growing up! I also remember the puppet that would squirt kids with a water bottle ha ha!

the good thing is they are spread out geographically so there shouldnt be too much overlap. Let's see which building starts first, seems like One Riverside is most likely to begin first. Last time I was near SLS site there was no activity at all. Just work on the church next to the site.

Penn PCAM South Tower

The University of Pennsylvania, as part of its partnership with Novartis, has unveiled plans to build what it's describing as a “first-of-its-kind” Center for Advanced Cellular Therapeutics on its University City campus.

The 30,000-square-foot center — which is expected to employ 100 “highly specialized” biomedical researchers — will focus on discovering, developing and manufacturing personal cellular cancer therapies that have the ability to hunt and destroy cancer cells. It will be located at 34th and Civic Center Boulevard, on top of the now-existing Jordan Medical Education Center.

The creation of the Center for Advanced Cellular Therapeutics will be funded in part through a $20 million investment from Novartis. It will be constructed as part of a building plan for the rear of Penn’s Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine — atop of the eight-story Jordan Medical Education Center and south pavilion extension currently under construction. The Center for Advanced Cellular Therapeutics, expected to open in 2016, will adjoin the existing cancer therapeutics floor in the Smilow Center for Translational Research, allowing it to be fully integrated with Penn Medicine’s research and clinical operations.

The reason this is exciting to me is because this is where I see the future of all medicine, and it's awesome to see the UPenn is a leader in the field. I think it's good news for the future of the medical industry in the city in general.
