Now serious talk. This week (I can pull the trigger Wednesday), I need to make a pretty important decision. Should I get...

Don't get the Phantom I. It only has a 7 minute flight time. The Phantom II increases to about 15 minutes. Keep saving and get their hex copter. They start at about $1500. The stadium truck racing event I went to last year used them for filming in the stadium in San Diego.

Eh for a hobby that's getting expensive for the hex when you start getting everything for it. You have to add gimbals, etc on top of that.

I have my sights on the Phantom 1.1.1 which has 15 minutes of flight time (Phantom 2 has 20), and the extra batteries for the 1.1.1 are $25 versus $125 on the 2. Complete package for the 1.1.1 with gimbal is just shy of $900.

Oh ok. I like that you can preprogram the flight and that it has 1000ft ceiling. Should get some really cool shots. I made a kite rig for my gopro. The view from about 300ft above the beach was awesome.

Hobby? I thought this was a deductible business expense? Any IRS employees lurking here who can help out RyanDravitzPhotography with the difference?

My vote is also drone - before they go and ban them! Also, Canon will release a new and even better body soon, I'm sure. But most importantly... as far as I know, there's still no infraction on the books for Droning Under the Influence!

Ryan - your current camera works just fine, more than fine...super-fine...except that it cannot fly.

True true. This is a Ryan Dravitz Photography business expense. I'll hang tight for the 7Dmkii and fly in the skies for now. Order goes in tomorrow and by next week I'll be flying high! No pun intended.

Bcp - Technically my camera can fly.

38th and Lowell

New Alexan project at 38th and Lowell. 336 units in a 5 story building hoping to begin construction beginning of 2015. Hopefully someday 38th will be solid 5 story buildings from Inca to Sheridan! Would feel very grown up for Denver

Rendering in the article from insiderealestatenews.com:

From the rendering that would be on the north side of 38th. So they are gonna take houses down for that? Or is it going on the south side? That would make more sense.

I believe it's actually the southeast corner. Here's another image from that insiderealestatenews.com article that makes the location and massing more clear.

Just a link... the embedded image is way too big.

I'm curious to see if whoever owns those houses in the "protected district" are going to attempt to stop this.

I used to live 3 blocks from there. It will look out of place but that's no biggie.

Anybody taken a tour of the 16M apts yet? I wonder what their sq foot price is since they lack some of the amenities of other properties.

Well I paid extra for extensive screening... She also comes with a drone which is totally worth the package.

Still very much on par with the rest of Downtown, even though they lack some amenities
