Well that's just bizarro world. By the way, judging from that rendering and comparing that tower to the Four Seasons Residences, it's about 550 feet tall. Where ever it's supposed to be built.

The other small inset photo on the piece of paper the man is holding also shows the Austonian and San Jacinto Center in the background.

The developer is obviously a con artist - and an amateur one at that. He doesn't own the land, and he spent a few minutes on the internet copying another project to say it was his. The TV station really fell for that one. That anchor used to work at an Austin station.

I counted roughly 43 floors in that rendering. I'd say the tower is 550 to 600 feet based on the rendering.

Anyway, I tried emailing WFAA.com, but it wouldn't recognize my email address for some reason. Maybe someone else can? WFAA also posted this story to their Facebook page and I replied to it and messaged them about it. I am genuinely interested in knowing where that rendering came from.

So I counted 43 floors in that. There may be 1 or 2 floors below that green facade, so either 42 or 43 floors total. And the height seems to be about 580 to 600 feet tall. Just that "east wing" setback portion is easily above the mechanical penthouses of the Four Seasons Residences which are at 401 feet. They're both 19 feet tall. That portion of the new tower seems to be about 20 feet above them. So the height of that wing is probably around 420 feet tall itself.

Ha, just when I express my concerns, something about 99 Trinity popped up from a most unlikely source.

There's no doubt that's 99 Trinity. Whoever that dude is has to know that is not what he is supposedly promoting. I am surprise that WFAA didn't notice something odd about it. How is that a 37 story tower when the Four Season Residencys is 38?

We have to confirm that this is indeed the latest rendering of 99 Trinity.

I'm curious too Kevin and would like to know where they got those renderings.

It is not uncommon for developers to borrow renderings from other similar projects when making announcements early on, before design has started. Remember the first rendering of the Marriott, for instance? What this suggests to me is that there is some common ownership between the two projects, and the rendering is in fact for 99 Trinity. We should know for sure as soon as the site plan is released.

The site plan was released last December. That's where we got the height, floor count etc.

Well the design has definitely changed. I'd be pretty satisfied if that was the end result. Will be nice to actually have contrast in height for that area rather than a plateau.

No, I don't think so. Both the site plan and demolition site plan are shown as awaiting update. I think the information you were looking at was the Austin Utility Location Coordination Committee submission. It is typically a preliminary, but not final, site plan.

This was the permit that showed the heights. It's a right-of-way permit and does seem to be for the utilities.

Yeah...I counted roughly 36-37 levels of units above what seems to be 7-8 levels of parking garage. So, 43-45 floors seems to be close in the posted rendering.

Oh, yeah...the official site plan is still under review. It has not been approved and released!

I really hope that design is built. I love the angled roof and the lower section with the trees. The design and color would bring a Nice contrast to the tans, oranges and brown's in that immediate area and the height would be perfect.

Anyone know what they're building west of the University Park Office building? It's the lot that is bordered by Luther Lane to the north, Duncan Lane to the south and Harmon Avenue to the east. Whatever it is it's under construction.

If that rendering of 99 Trinity is what's really planned, it's going to help a lot in creating a more shapely, gradual skyline (at least, from this angle), instead of it just being the Austonian in a league of its own and everything else being around the same height. ECC will help, too.

A poster on shaggy, who is in the industry, commented on the weird 99 Trinity renderings in that WFAA story. He said those are from several years ago, and he wonders where they got them.
