Also, in all The SHED drawings they have the main floor of cityplace open to Hargrave with storefronts again. Is this: a) possible? b) feasible? c) still planned/realistic?

In addition to the aforementioned Tims, there used to be an Arby's opposite Tims that was open outside of MTS event hours. I think its been replaced by a poutine place last I saw that unfortunately only opens during events.

Heh, my thoughts exactly. There is also a Subway outlet open during the day, as well as the Jets Gear and Moxies outlets along Portage.

The MTS Centre actually does a half-decent job (well, relative to most large arenas) of blending in to the urban fabric a bit with some storefront operations along the sidewalk, especially considering that there isn't exactly a ton of room in there for that sort of thing. However, I'm a bit surprised that the poutine place isn't used by something that can operate during the day.

Yes, more specifically talking about the talk of the walls along Donald, they talked about it after they had already had the Graham side open for a bit.

The place opposite Tims has been a number of different things over the years, many of which tried to operate during off-event hours and failed. I think the biggest issue is it needs to be a draw and not easily something you can get elsewhere in the area, ie a Five Guys or Qdoba might work but would they want a location inside an arena and how would they work during an event?

One problem with the Arby's at MTS center was their two price structure. They had one price (higher) for events and a lower one for the day time. Unfortunately their price boards were not the video ones most chains now use and all you saw were the hard coded event prices.

If you went up to the counter there was a lower day price list in front of the till. A lot of customers saw the high prices from a distance and said no.

I can't remember if the Quizno's (the first concept that location) operated the same way.

All the food places in there with I think Moxie's being the exception as its sort of standalone are run by Centerplate for True North.

i think they are all following me as I put black eaces, fascia, roof and railing on my house a few years back

yeah agreed, you need to have black lit up at night to make it stand out.

Good technical presentation, but too bad about the writing ("One. Single. Day.", "How Orwellian"... WTF?) and kind of tired of the whole OMG we were supposed to be the next Chicago!!! narrative, mainly because the subtext is that what we have now is grossly inadequate because it isn't Chicago. Every one horse town had massive ambitions back in those boom days... I don't know why we'd consider a sales pitch from 1912 to be some kind of definitive judgment on present-day Winnipeg. I hope it gets better from here.

It did surpise me as well. The individuals that put this together are a talented bunch. I expect the same quality in parts II and III.

267 Sherbrook has a sign up on site and is going through council now.. ~150 rental units and 2 ground floor commercial spaces.
