TEDxCalgary is a better choice and better fit for multiple reasons anyway.

TEDxYYC is a massive and expensive once per year Jubilee type event, whereas TEDxCalgary is multiple times a year, intentionally kept smallish (relatively) and integrated with civil society / public engagement type elements.

So in post stampitecture, we are now heading into chinookitecture. With this (8 Ave crossing) and WLRT. I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot more design inspiration drawn from our local weather phenomenon.

I like that the details are there to discover, leads naturally from the purpose of a library.

The interior being open like that will be a majestic space, and the entrance from 8th feels like it will draw you up and through bringing the connection back between 3rd and the EV.

I too am hopefully... I say "post stampitecture" as a statement choosing to believe it is already dead hahaha

I notice she threw in the Cecil and YWCA redevelopments - anyone have any tidbits on this? Revamping those two site would be huge for the core since they're basically the first couple of properties you see as you enter downtown from westbound Memorial

Block K looks prime for a nice tall development that uniquely incorporates The Riff

It was just something I did a few months ago to show what the Cecil might look like if it was restored to it's original look, along with some random new development beside it.

Not a bad concept at all - refurbishing The Cecil's facade to its original brick would be cool and I like the scale

Don't believe any street level retail bays would do very well there though .. I feel like a development like that might be best suited for a mid-rise office building use only (off the top of my head)
