I'm guessing you mean Paris France? If so this took about 30 seconds to find and seems comparable.

There's probably many many more.

OK, but you've now got 30 seconds to find, in that same Canadian city, an equivalent to either the Champs-Élysées, le Marais or St-Germain-des-Prés...

Starting the timer... NOW!

You get a new tallest! And you get a new tallest! You ALL get new tallests!!

Just went through a whack of Canadian cities .. and tallests are being proposed and/or built in Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Halifax, Saskatoon, Regina, Victoria, Burnaby, Surrey, Kelowna, and even Guelph and Fort McMurray. That's insane - Canada's skylines are on the move!

Except Quebec. No new tallests for you!

Woots to the West.

I forgot about all the shoppers dog farts in Paris. Even though I have visited Paris 6 times. It is practically the same built form as Winnipeg, Dallas, etc. No difference whatsoever in the grand scheme of things. Hell, they mostly speak English nowadays, and eat Big Macs instead of baguette and brie. My bad.

Hey, you wanted a comparable, you got a comparable. As someone who has been there 6 times, you should know that Paris isn't all bankers and fashion models smoking and sipping ristrettos at sidewalk cafes.

Yes, and Baron Haussmann had a great urban influence all across Canada.

Not all. But perhaps half of it. Certainly the smoking fashion models and the sidewalk cafes. I think the bankers decamped to London (UK, not the provincial burg that I currently find myself in)

For Winnipeg? The Exchange District gives a decent shot for Winnipeg's size and youth.

Hamilton isn't getting one either. Luckily it seems to be getting a lot of new second tallest buildings. Like Toronto until recently.

Expecting a New World city have a similar built form to a European one is absurd though. The reality is that what Europe builds now isn't all that different from what we build now. Go to any mid to large European city and you'll see Canadian style development: malls, parking lots, sub-divisions. They're also building density downtown, LRT, etc. but so are we.

Has anyone ever compared Winnipeg to Paris? Ever?

You clearly have some kind of personal problem with western cities seeing as you seek out opportunities to rip on them and the forum users from those areas. Most well-adjusted people can say "Great new proposal Winnipeg, hope it gets built. It would really boost your skyline." But you have to remind everyone that Winnipeg's got nothing when compared to Paris.... What amazing analysis! I didn't realize that Winnipeg was worse than Paris until you mentioned! Thanks for letting us know! Jesus.....

Pardon my french but you can take your bullshit and ad-hominem rude remarks and shove it. Just search my posting history and you can see that I have been very complimentary towards Winnipeg. I don't need some turkey with 172 posts telling me who I am.

I was commenting on the FOREGROUND SIMULATION in the maps, you thick brick. Still feeling sore because I didn't go gaga over Calgary, I see.

Haha.. oops. It's true - good ol' Haligonia!

I created the list one city at a time in the post field, and I guess I went with the general gist of things in the last sentence before proofing and posting. Sorry!

No, just barely. The western most portions of Quebec at slightly to the west of Toronto as far as I can tell. 79°46′W for Quebec's furthest west vs. 79°24′W for Toronto.

LOL, pot meet kettle. Great debating skills bro. Anyway why don't we agree to ignore each other and be done with it.
