If you go back through the comments, I've touted the potential of that site for ACTUAL dense (moreso than Mueller) development for YEARS.

Of course, the likelihood of that happening is little to none given regional opposition to that kind of thing...

You could easily get around the traffic issue by doing eminent domain on a portion of that parking lot across the street just north of Westminster and having a dedicated entrance and exit from the northbound lanes into that area.

Site plan for Aspen Lake Two. This is a 5-story office building at 10205 Pecan Park Boulevard. Google says it's in Cedar Park, but it's actually within Austin along 183 just south of SH-45. Anyway, the heights are on pages 43 and 44 and show it to be 70 feet. Originally there had been three towers planned for that project of up to 15 floors and around 200 feet.

Found this blurb from the Northwest Austin Civic Association Newsletter for August 2014:

Austin NIMBYism is a strange concept to me.

Outside of the core and iconic areas like south congress, Austin neighborhoods are basically identical to those in Temple or College Station or Waco or any other Texas city.

There is absolutely nothing remotely special or preservation worthy about West Austin residential areas except for the fact that they are in the city and home to affluent people who feel entitled to a suburban lifestyle close to an urban center My neighborhood I grew up in Copperas Cove was on a hill and full of ranch style and early midcentury modern houses but of course it was a lower middle class area because it wasn't in Silicon Valley, Texas.

I guess we are going to be like California soon, with shitbox 1960s mass produced suburbs commanding $300k+ prices?

That ship sailed a few years ago. Try finding anything built in the 60s in a central neighborhood (yes, used to be suburbia) for under $400K now.

That was an obvious mistake by whomever keeps up with this for the city. The Hyatt House is missing as well.

I wish they would include stuff in West Campus on that list. University House is going to be a sizable project on the skyline.

It is a truly huge task to make a comprehensive list. I was just looking at an article in the Austin Chronicle, and they included about 50 projects around central Ausitn, and it didn't even come close to including them all.
I would bet that there are at least 100 new construction projects in Austin proper. And that is not including the huge numbers of remodel jobs or new construction outside of the city in the metro area. The construction employment numbers would be interesting to see, and I'm sure it would be a very impressive number.

Yeah. I mostly meant for them to cover all the highrises which would be considerably less than that number. Still quite a lot, but still probably not as many as what are being built in Houston and maybe Dallas.

So many of these projects are projected to begin in late 2014 or early 2015. Surely they won't all make their start date, but one has to believe that most of them will. All of the construction will be quite a sight to see!
