Thunder Bay's Target never seems to have issues keeping things in stock, but then I am used to shopping in Thunder Bay, where random things will run out quite often; a year ago the city ran out of produce for 3 days. To me it's little more than a cleaner Zellers, without a place to get $5 quarterpound cheeseburgers.

As for PC Plus, it's a pretty awesome programme. I've gotten over $200 worth of points. Some of the offers are a bit strange; 200 points for a $12 box of chicken fingers isn't going to pique my interest but the 300 points for every dollar spent on bacon combined with the very common 300 points per package of bacon, when redeemed on a 3-pack of bacon for $13, gets you quite a few points. You "save" almost $5, but can only redeem points in quantities of 10,000 (worth $10) at a later date. The funny aspect is the offers are based on your shopping history. I'm pretty sure mine thinks I am a woman in her late 20s with two kids.

As much as I like saving money on groceries, I'm tired of these points programs. The reality is these programs are used to track buying habits and build a profile that people do look at and talk about. (Sometimes working in marketing sucks because you realize you know too much about too many people.)

That used to be the case for me. However if you live in Mexico for any period of time, you discover that Walmart pretty much owns the grocery market in that country and you end up shopping at either Walmart or a Walmart-owned store one way or another.

in a small town walmart is usually the only store open after 6 pm or 9 pm so one just goes there first cause you know it will be open till 11 at least

Montreal premium outlets breaks ground: To include maxmara & possibly hbc outlet

the montreal premium outlets will be the second premium outlet in canada, following the popular toronto premium outlets which opened in august. Included will be canada's first maxmara outlet, as well as possibly a hudson's bay outlet.

The mall will be located in the montreal suburb of mirabel.

Like its toronto sibling, the outlets will be located far away from montreal's downtown core in a car-dependent location on highway 15. A new highway exit, exit 28, has been created for the project.

Canada's first maxmara outlet store (about 3,500 square feet) will be among the new tenants. A 27,333 square foot anchor retail space is located at one end of the mall, and speculation has it that it could become canada's second hudson's bay outlet. Canada's first hudson's bay outlet opened in august at the toronto premium outlets.

Hudson's Bay Outlet to Open 2nd Location

Hudson's Bay will continue the expansion of its Hudson's Bay Outlet concept by opening a second location this fall at the Premium Outlets Montreal. The roughly 27,000 square foot store will carry clearance merchandise from its department stores, as does its first location that opened last year in Toronto.

Regarding that Premium Outlets project in Mirabel. Do they expect the roughly one million people living on the south shore and Monteregie to drive all the way to Mirabel to shop in an Outlet ? I'm not even sure that the two millions Montréal Islanders will do. Maybe once, just out of curiosity.

I predict that it will be very popular. It's not only people from Laval that shop at Carrefour Laval and not only people from Brossard that shop at Dix30. I live in Gatineau and I go to both and I will go to the outlet for sure.

Montréal will come out ahead.

Incredibly, insiders (including sources at Womens Wear Daily) speculate that sales in the new Ogilvy/Holt's store could be as high as $250 million annually. If so, these could be the highest department store sales in Canada, surpassing those of Hudson's Bay's Toronto flagship.

You can now add Winnipeg as well. It appears that they want to focus on 5 cities Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary.
