As long as we are talking about buildings that don't belong, you have to include the airport hotel. It overwhelms the city's most iconic building. The blue glass is terrible...value engineered into a shell of the original vision.

Big improvement at 16 Chestnut, hopefully that reflects what eventually gets built.

There seems to be a lot of momentum towards the majority of the larger projects actually coming to fruition. Good times for downtown, hopefully more and improved retail follows.

Anyone know what is planned for University & Harvard? All of the businesses on the east side of University have been vacated and construction fencing is up all the way to the 7-11 at Wesley. More student apartments?

Are there any plans yet for the vacant lot on Chestnut between 17th and 18th (not 17W) next to 16 Chestnut? Or if not does anyone know what the height zoning for that parcel is? Would hate to see it go to waste.

Here are some poor quality elevations of the project at 8th Avenue and Sherman Street. It will have 64 apartment units and 2,800 square feet of retail space - labeled as a coffee shop and a barber shop on the site plan. The project is officially 5 stories, but it will appear to be 6 stories at the corner:

Best comment of the week.

Love the Art Hotel. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Yup that's the one. Same one that got the neighborhood up in a tizzy too. The Denver Post ran an article on it.

Not sure if it's hush hush, but it will definitely be a coffee shop and a barber shop on the main floor. Both tenants are well known for what they do, so I'm excited to have this a few blocks from me.

Ah yes, the one where they went from 3 to 5 story zoning. That some crazy development there!

+1. I love everything about this project and the horse.

The Hotel and Transit Center is only covering up one face of the main terminal, which is the narrowest, not so exciting face. Not to mention, you still get to see the main terminal through the center of the new building, which is super creative and not a boring box. You still have the east and west terminal face that will never get covered up. So don't worry ski82, those spanning, long majestic peaks are still there.

I agree.

The Hotel and Transit Center deserve to make their own statement. I actually like the contrast which presents a delightful peek at the very white tent roof behind it.
