As long as it's properly maintained. That's the problem... we don't pay enough attention to our infrastructure until bridges collapse, then they get repaired. Plus, Amtrak is a favorite target of those who want "smaller government." Come to think of it... if that bridge was built in 1936 was it a WPA project?

On a positive note though, I could see a future bridge using those two islands as span supports which would leave more space for people in boats to float by.
