since they dont have to excavate from street level for this building we should be seeing steel on site for the lower columns relatively soon. The site conditions here are ideal and should save months on the construction schedule.

Two of the larger caissons are complete. Three smaller caissons are complete. They're drilling three more of the larger holes and one more smaller hole now.

I love everything about this project. This area will really grow the skyline. im digging all the glass surrounding the historic structures. Philly will soon have the best skyline in the US.

Probably 3rd best, but thats still pretty good when you think about it. I do wonder if any cities other than NYC or chicago have so many high rises under construction or close to construction.

Seattle, San Francisco and Miami are building a lot. Houston and LA have a lot proposed.

Have to put NYC and Chicago in their own category... especially NYC.. the supertalls going up now and in the next couple years in Midtown are insane. Also, I don't think DC was ever really impacted by the recession..., new developments have been booming for years and years now. Although it has a strict height limit (so it will never have tall skyscrapers), I remember reading at one point in last few years there were 30 cranes up across the city.

With those aside (NYC/Chicago), ...Philly by 2020 with all those new buildings going up... probably will be #3. The length of the skyline west to east... Univ City to Old City will be quite impressive.

I've spent a lot of time the last few weeks using the advanced filters on the city diagram searches for this site, and I gotta agree that Philly will have (or maintain) the 3rd best skyline. The others are building a lot of smaller towers or things that are not proportional to the rest of their respective skylines.

the other good thing here is that you have actual clusters in CC and to a lesser degree UC, of similarly scaled buildings. One thing that is weird about places like Atlanta is how some of the taller buildings are basically on islands separated from any real skyline mass. I think this is true in many southern cities like Dallas. Im basing this on what you see during sporting events to some degree.

Exactly. Take a look at an aerial of Atlanta. It shows how thin and narrow the skyline is with very little density.

Now take a look at Philadelphia. Wow! And this image is three years old.

I generally agree with that, though the Dallas skyline is fairly dense in its downtown core.

maybe I should take another look at dallas' skyline, Im not all that familiar with it honestly.

PS: Ok I just looked, it is pretty densely clustered, but its just small vs ours. in the pics you can see the surface parking lots surrounding the small core of high rises.

Wow Cira certainly can disappear. I think the photo is older than even the OP suspected. Murano (2008) & Res @ the Ritz (2009) appear to be missing.
Edit - Wait Comcast was completed in 2008. What am I missing here?
